In the Ghostbusters universe, "gods" are not actually gods. They're just really powerful spiritual entities that inhabit higher planes of existence and/or other dimensions so if the Christian god exists in their universe then he is not really a god either and could theoretically be caught by the proton beams, put in a trap, and stored in the containment unit.
