Why did 24 not have a big post-show following? Almost all the other big shows around that era had a big following, but you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who even acknowledges it today. I remember it being the water cooler-type of show. Everyone and their dead ancestors were watching this, both in America and internationally yet today it's been swept under the rug.

Why is this? 24 is a fine programme. It's not flawless but it's a good show.

because true patricians understood what it was, appreciated it, and moved on. they weren't some plebbit cucks that made it their entire personality and were consoom fandom whores

like other shows around that era like lost, heroes, etc

it had a huge following at the time

It's a product of it's time. The show is built around commercial breaks.

because it got incredibly stupid

24 always gets threads on this board. It has a post-show following. It's just not that vocal because it wasn't emotionally or spiritually relevant or interesting. It was a plot-forward show, and after plot things happened in the plot to move the plot along there isn't really anything to talk about after it ends.

THEY ARE SHOOTING AT US!!!!!

it became a repetition of its own clichés every season
>gimmick that's threatening america
>terrorist group starts going after civilians
>there's a mole working for the bad guys
>jack gets involved while doing something else
>jack kills and tortures a lot of people
>chloe reluctantly hacks everything she can and tells jack where to go
>after jack kills the leader of the terrorist group, it gets revealed he was just a pawn for an evil politician/important businessman
>the mole gets cornered, does a shooting inside a government facility and then gets killed/captured
>kim gets kidnapped and has her own stupid subplot
>the 3 letter agency(ies) get in jack's way, at some point they go after him thinking he's going rogue, but jack befriends the lead agency character and together clear his name
>jack kills the private military group/mercenaries protecting the evil bad guy
>kim gets rescued
>jack suffers

It simply wasn't as good as shows that have endured. By the end it had gotten tired and silly. Game of Thrones had a similar trajectory and also vanished from popular culture the second it went off the air. The shows that endure tend to be fairly consistent throughout and end on a high, leaving people with fond memories of them.
