This is my favourite movie, please discuss it. It made me realise that life would never be how I hoped it would be, that we wear these thin masks and people forget they're wearing them even though a word can slap it off at any moment, or make you wanna slap one on. It shows why we lose ourselves to drugs and jobs or whatever thread we take up to trace our way through life, cos what else is there, but there's still that nagging feeling that we're observing some ballet or opera that's just abstract and silly in the context of existence and our complex natures. Like through nostalgia we can see how far up in space we've found ourselves, but again what else is there but to seek real feelings when we can and linger on old memories, just find meaning no matter how abstract or insubstantial it might be. You long for your own Natalie Portman but you'll find her to be nothing like fantasy, just as lost but grounded differently along with everyone else in life like in the movie except his buddy the gravedigger who's like what do you expect bro lets just get lost lmao. It's like I lost the reigns on what I thought I'd get out of life when i saw it, it brings you back to that feeling of emptiness and leaves you wondering what the fuck just happened, what am I supposed to do now?
