this type of "absurd thing happens and the humor comes from the much more grounded reaction of the characters" comedy hadn't been driven into the ground yet. once that road trip movie with galifinakis and RDJ came out, the subgenre had been wrung dry. only took a couple years. but they still kept making them. female ghostbusters was trying to emulate the hangover.
