I still think The Last Duel was seriously underrated
>>
>>215061796
but ridley, your modern movies suck too

growing up is realizing that tony is the better scott
>>
Does Scott realize that his recent movies fall under the "modern shit" category, or has he gone senile at this point?
>>
>>215061796
I still think Blade Runner is the penultimate and best sci-fi movie ever made.

Prove me wrong.

Grumpy old man

>I'm in the mood to rewatch Prometheus for the third time today
>>
>>215061926
Same. 2001 might be overall more important but I enjoy Blade Runner more.
>>
>>215061796
I have a theory, that if you like Ridley Scott films you likely also like Morrissey. Pls confirm.
>>
>>215061831
I liked it but it didn't do enough with the different perspectives. I was really disappointed when it got to Adam Driver's perspective and I expected to see a whole new side to this character that Damon saw as an asshole, but he was just still an asshole. Even the rape is barely different and still strongly comes across as rape whenever it's depicted.

The only scene that felt meaningfully different in an interesting way was the one where the wife tells Damon she was raped. From Damon's perspective it feels like she shrinks into the background and even beyond just how he acts and what he says, the camerawork also does a good job of making him the focus and making this feel like he is the one that was wronged, but then from the wife's perspective it does a good job making you feel it from her side and casts Damon in a much worse light. I would have liked it a lot more if there were more moments like that.

I have a sneaking suspicion you don't know what "penultimate" means.
>>
napoleon sucked
>>

>Rewatches his own movies
Sounds like he's a narcissist more than anything, because several of his movie are modern movies and his older movies aren't the only older movies.
>>
>>215061796
>All women are shit, I exclusively masturbate to myself in the mirror!
>>
I've been thinking about Bladerunner
Can Anon argue for a more Nietzschean film?
Not necessarily getting into the depths of Nietzsche's philosophy, but epitomizing Nietzschean aesthetics.
>>
>>215061995
Yeah, that's exactly it. He just blatantly admits being a rapist asshole instead of muddying the waters and showing us how he was innocent, like the real story actually was, where nothing was clear. Why shout "I didn't rape her" at the end, if he indeed did?
>>
>>215061926
Blade Runner is a masterpiece but what about 2001: Space Odyssey?
>>
>>215061796
This is the intellectual equivalent to staying in your room gooning and refusing to talk to actual women.
>>
>>215061926
2049 is infinitely better than the slog that is the original
>>
>>215062306
Speaking from experience?
>>
>>215061796
True also most of this movies are also shit
>>
>>215061796
That's weird, does he watch all past movies or just a select few "good" ones?
As if at any time there are always shitty movies coming out when we just remember the good ones as the shit fades away into obscurity.
Why do old people always fall for the dumbass nostalgia shit?
>>
>>215061796
Well his modern movies are definitely shit and it is preferable to watch his older movies
>>
>>215061995
Totally agree. The Rashoman style of the movie was unnecessary considering it outright calls the woman's perspective the correct version of events. Someone should re-edit the movie to just make it linear. Aside from that I thought it was mostly good. The duel was kino
>>
>>215061948
He was laughing after he said it, so not really
>>
>>215062004
Lol that confused me as well
>>
>>215061796
Agreed. Modern movies like Napoleon and Gladiator 2 are shit.
>>
>>215061796
he's not wrong but that's such a tool statement
also his movies suck
>>
>>215061967
I do...
>>
>>215061796
>“The quantity of movies that are made today, literally globally – millions. Not thousands, millions… and most of it is s**t… And so what I do – it’s a horrible thing – but I’ve started watching my own movies, and actually they’re pretty good! And also, they don’t age.”
And he thinks slop like House of Gucci and Gladiator 2 aren't a part of this? Napoleon wasn't even close to as good as Waterloo from the early 70s or debatably even his first film The Duelists which also took place in Napoleonic France. How delusional is this guy?

You have to understand that The Last Duel was an apology by Affleck and Damon for being associates of Harvey Weinstein. That's why the #MeToo perspective is forced in where the woman is objectively declared to be a victim even though the whole style of the movie is that there are multiple subjective perspectives. It's very cynical and squanders an otherwise solid film
>>
>>215061796
>rewatches his own movies
so he's an egomanic?
>>
>>215062749
He recently started revisiting his old movies to see how they held up. People are for some reason twisting this into something it’s not
>>
>>215062347
Kek, asshurt 3deep5me gooner detected.

No, its simple. "N...Nothing in this world is worth my spending energy on it, im just going to please myself by myself instead." i.e. intellectual masturbation.
>>
>>215061831
If you fixed the stupid blue tint, cast someone different to Matt Damon and removed the already dated #MeToo allegory in the script it might be a good movie. Unfortuately the real product is terrible.
>>
>>215061796
80%+ of Criterion Collection is better time spent than this old coot's delusions
>>

>bro why is this artist looking at his own work
>doesn't he know he's just a cog in a machine designed to produce as much moneymaking product as fast as possible, people actually looking at it be damned??
