The Myth Arc is shitty first and foremost because the tone of those episodes is self-serious and obnoxiously melodramatic in a way the show's writers weren't able to actually pull off. It's not a mostly enjoyable time that is brought down by a clumsy plot, it's just a step down from the Monster of the Week episodes in every respect and retains little of what makes those episodes fun.
