because there is a morbidly obese man who spent too much time in his mansion eating greasy pizza and chicken wings to the point he became too fat and lazy to ever finish the series of novels he created. So, instead of having a series of writing to base the scripts of the television adaptation off of, the hack writers were forced to create their own scripts and dialogue and ended up failing miserably. This plot was clearly meant to be taken up by lady stoneheart, who was already written out of the show because reasons and we will never get a genuine and true resolution to this story since the fat man has ceased giving a fuck, and honestly so have the fans outside of the most dedicated, autistic ones.

As long as something crazy happened it didn't matter what came before or what came after, it didn't matter if it was stupid and made no sense. Just an endless stream of mini Red Weddings, screw the build up, screw the repercussions, just hit them with another red wedding and the audience won't care about it.
