It's really bad. Though it mostly because of studio demands>they wanted Kirk and Picard to have scenes>they also wanted the Enterprise D destroyed for some reason>Brent Spiner also wanted Data to be wacky
It does fall apart at the end, but it has its moments. The new 4K version does look good. I just rewatched it last night with the commentary from the writers, who were relatively candid about its failings.
They really underutilized the tng cast and the sub plot about data feeling I tense emotions wasn't interestingI thought the opening with Kirk was fine but the lighting for the ship is so fucking dim
