He was thinking that the quest was to get the ring to mordor. o Hob were the obvious choice. Healer? Nazguls were deadly and unhealable, Frodo can tell you that. Tank? They needed stealth and speed. A tank would only be used as distraction for escape (see Boromir or Strider's first fight with the Nazguls).This isn't a dungeon delve or an hex crawl to find riches. This is a get the mcguffin to X location.
