(HALLOWEEN)

> The Miramax Halloween series treats Myers faithfully like a unstoppable supernatural phantom & has nudity.

> More stand alone Halloween comics like Nightdance. Maybe mini series that each follow up a different continuity in the series...
>- Myers & the cult hunting Jamie's baby after 6.
>- Adapt the early H7 script about Myers stalking a girls boarding school.
>- Myers hunting Laurie's son after H20.
>- Adapt the script for Rob Zombie's Halloween 3.
>- Adapt the script for Halloween Returns that was planned before the 2018 movie pitch.

> The earlier scripts for Halloween 4 are released online, I wanna see how Myers was defeated in the version of the script that had Sheriff Meeker fight Myers to the death in his basement resulting in his house burning down.

> The cut footage of the H5 police station massacre & Meeker's death are found & released despite their absence in the recent Blu-Ray that had the Dr Death opening (we know it was filmed because we have a BTS pic of Meeker getting shot)

> The full Face of Michael Myers short film is made despite the original kickstarter failing. Prelude Short - https://youtu.be/wCAxcOmVCNs

Spider Labyrinth was pretty good. Starts out with your usual giallo mystery set-up uncovering a conspiracy, then turns into some monster action with a lot of crazy effects. Nice looking movie, too, with plenty of nudity by a woman who looks welcomely similar to Dixie from Pee-wee's Playhouse

I was going to mention Re-animator specifically but if you don't mind old ones like The Tingler, The Projected Man is pretty fun (same with the incredible melting man)
I've seen a lot of them is the problem and I want something where I'm freshly bamboozled but I might have to settle for a rewatch

(OTHER SLASHERS)

> Scream 7 Onward - Sydney does not become a killer & is not killed off unless it's a respectful successful heroic sacrifice. Maybe have the film take place in snowy weather & invert Ghost Face's colors so he will blend in with the environment.

> The Blumhouse My Bloody Valentine reboot is on par with Halloween (18).
> It makes better more suspenseful use of the mine than the 09 remake did.
> Has nudity like 09.

> If they reboot ANOES again and wish to return Freddy to the horror & humor balance they got perfect in 3, consider Tom Hiddleston.

> The reboot/sequel to Madman (81) does not have a feminist bent to it despite the original film's producer claiming he plans to give it such (ignoring how great & strong of a final girl Gaylen Ross was in the original)

> They don't reboot Texas Chainsaw Massacre again, either drop it long term or do a direct sequel to 2022 (I would pick up where it left off with Leatherface evading swat and bounty hunters.

> Some more obscure non franchise slasher films get sequels/reboots with new stories. I would like to see something done with The Slayer or Superstition (both from 1982)

> A new serious toned slasher with a Samurai killer.

> We get Zodiac (07) / From Hell / The Town that Dreaded Sundown style slasher/murder mystery movies about the real life Axeman of New Orleans & the Hinterkaifeck farm massacre.

(OTHER HORROR)

> We get a period piece Conjuring spin off about the samurai armor in the Warren's collection, maybe set during the occupation of Japan?

> We get some more horror & slasher films set near the sea/on ships, make use of moody harbors, docks & foggy nights. A undead Sea Captain slasher would be cool.

> We get further mostly serious toned theatrically released killer animal films like The Shallows & Crawl. Ideally ones with oversized Scorpions and Octopuses. Remake of Tentacles (1977)?
> Crawl 2 is on par with the first.

> Antje Traue is cast as The Bride of Frankenstein, if that film in Universal's Dark Universe moves forward.

> If the Dark Universe moves forward, Dracula Untold is reinstated into canon. I want more of Luke Evan's take on the character.

> Lee Cronin's The Mummy is received better than the 2017 Tom Cruise film.

> More Pumpkinhead movies.

> Cabin in the Woods anthology series with each episode (maybe every 2 episodes) being a different cast facing a different monster. Some arcs will focus on the folks in the Cabin & some will focus on the staff in the base dealing with capturing monsters out in the wild or having to deal with them getting loose.

> A B&W tribute movie to 1950s monster movies is that actually is fairly serious & well budgeted. Builds up mystery & suspense for the 1st 3rd.

> Galaxy of Terror prequel about Captain Trantor surviving the massacre of the Hesperus crew by aliens 25 years before.

The books by John Skipp and Craig Spector for example could make for some really fun films if adapted correctly.

The White Reindeer (1952) – Strongly Worth a Watch, especially for those who can appreciate a simple folk tale well-told. Beautifully shot, the snowy hills and white sweeps of the Laplanders’ home are rendered somehow *colder* by the black and white film. Willful hottie Pirita is freshly married -- but already she fears her womanly charms are losing their effect on meaty-lipped Aslak. She goes to see a sleazy shaman for a remedy, and he tells her to sacrifice the first living thing she comes across to THE STONE GOD, a finger of rock with a reindeer skull on it, which provides one of the most memorable images in the film: the great, crude idol, surrounded by past reindeer sacrifices whose antlers poke up from the snow all around it like dead branches. Unfortunately, Pirita has a *natural* witchiness already, which reacts strongly with the shaman’s prescription. (Don’t mix your medications, folks!)

Essentially, it is a VAMPIRE movie. Watching this gives a little window into Finnish/Laplander lore, and shows its striking similarities to Native American motifs. It’s already short, but clips along even faster than you’d think, given the age of the movie and the sameness of the setting.

(Sorry for the crap picture quality! Shudder's gone to shit lately.)

guys I saw a movie on some Comcast horror channel (or maybe it was on-demand) in like 2010 and it was vaguely about people in a dingy apartment fending for their lives against an infestation of killer rats or something. there was a sequence that used this song, probably the only memorable and good thing in the movie.

I never really watch any horror movies made in the last 10-20 years but I would like to add some to my list this year. Recommend me your top 5-10 favorites "modern" horror movies. I've seen some of them; the big faux arthouse ones like Hereditary and The Witch, some of the meme movies like Pearl, and the campier (and for me, more enjoyable) ones like Krampus and Trick r Treat.

Literally anything can be "political", in the same way that one observer might see a cloud shaped like spaghetti and his faggot friend sees a cock. People will always find what they are looking for, because they want to see it. I feel like if Romero had cast a White man as Ben, no one would have ever remembered it as a political film. It was just a bunch of buddies from Carnegie Mellon out in the woods making a movie, but because Duane Jones was the best actor for Ben, suddenly it's a not-so-subtle social commentary. Yes, I am aware George was a raging leftie.

To Fire You Come at Last (2024) – A strong Worth a Watch that attains its rating with classic ghostly atmosphere (all in black and white) and wonderfully *viscous* Victorian dialog -- which would be perfectly at home, as far as I can tell, in a spook story from two centuries ago (though the tale itself is set probably a century earlier than that). A squire and his hired man meet up with two others to carry the corpse of the squire’s son to the churchyard. It’s a long, nighted walk along the lichway, as they call it, rumored to be haunted by ghosts and worse; during the journey, secrets pertaining to the men’s relationship with the deceased come out . . .

An episode of a yearly Christmas special on Shudder called “The Haunted Season,” it leans quite a bit on the considerable acting chops of its four-man cast, and ESPECIALLY on the wonderful English language! Like the best of Victorian ghost stories, it wraps its audience up in layer after layer of beautifully superfluous language -- like a corpse in a winding sheet -- rendering him immobile, hypnotized till the end. Why not Excellent? Mostly because a few more reveals or bits of theming work were necessary to prepare for the actual supernatural happenings. (Yes, I realize ghosts thrive in the dark corners of our minds, but appropriate THEMING is necessary in a truly complete classic ghost story. If the fate of a doomed character isn’t outright ironic, it needs to come close.)

>While filming a particularly bloody scene, Rider Strong decided to go for a walk in the woods between setups. Covered head to toe in blood, he happened upon a group of 35 schoolgirls, who were on a field trip. The girls screamed at the sight of this blood-drenched hiker, and then screamed even louder when they realized the hiker was the star of Boy Meets World (1993). The girls chased Rider through the woods. Strong eventually made it back to the film crew, and vowed never to wander off between scenes again.
Schoolgirls can be...scary

We've legitimately had a lot of good horror movies this year
Final Destination
Weapons
The Gorge
28 years later
Together
VHS Halloween (kind of)
Sinners

Everything else was unremarkable, but I know I'm gonna get a (you) from the biggest fan of Carnival Massacre 5

I liked the design of things when they got into the Gorge and the initial premise was fun+dumb in a kind of tabletop roleplaying way that I could have imagined seeing on /tg/

Should I deduct a point from Grave Encounters for the designs of the ghosts when it's actually the movie that everyone else ripped off for the ink eye long mouth ghost thing?
>>
>>215091760
If the thing (GE) inspired ripoffs, then the other works are at fault.
