What the fuck was his problem?
Nothing, besides not making a good movie since the 90's.
>>215083795Don't scare me like that. And he's got no problem, which is why he's based and KNOWS.
>>215083795Hasn’t really made a good movie since Escape from LA nearly 30 years ago. Still makes some banger tracks though. Also, that video he did for IGN where he tried to play the Halloween theme on the Nintendo Labo piano and straight called it a piece of shit was very funny.
>>215083861>since Escape from LAYou mean before, right? Now, I'll give you this much, the ending was based.
>>215083795Financial and critical failure of The Thing on release would make anyone a cynic.
>>215083795Weed and Xbox
>>215084007If he emulates old games he's some kind of super wizard.
>>215083861That IGN video is hilarious>>215083920Indeed the ending is amazing
>>215083795Imagine being the most influential modern filmmaker but all his films kinda flopped or were critically panned. Never got the creative/financial freedom he aspired. Ended up bitter, making slop to earn a living. When he got old every other guy was copying him, yet that recognition never came when he really wanted.
>>215083795Aside from making nothing but kino for decades? Not a damn thing. He's too based for this world.
>>215084071He got to motorboat Adrienne and get stoned with Kurt. He wins every time.
not a single fuck given, ever, he's THE GOATand you're a random moron zoomer on /tv/ copy/pasting the same question "what the fuck was his problem" or "what did I think of it" instead of trying to be at least slightly creative
>>215084039>Indeed the ending is amazingTo the point where it practically makes up for all of the other shortcomings including wasting Bruce Campbell.

>>215084186Now that's a film that just keeps improving with every viewing.
>>215084007This is also true for Thomas Pynchon
>>215083795>Now, David Cronenberg used to be horror, but now he considers himself an artist. So he's a little bit above us, which was shocking to me because David and I used to be friends in the old days, and now, I don't know. I'm a little low class for him. It's really weird. So I quickly made an exit. "I don't want to bother you. Sorry!" I was like, "Hey David, how you doin'? Wow, you're kidding me. You take yourself really seriously"
>>215084071>Halloween had a budget of 300k and made 70 million>Escape from New York had a budget of 6 million, made 50 million>The Fog had a budget 1 million, made 21 millionat least he had some successes, plus he has probably made good money off the Halloween sequels and remakes of his movies (The Thing, The Fog, Assault on Precinct 13, Halloween)
>>215084131yeah he's based
>>215084327Yeah he had some successes but studios kept not wanting to fund his films/his vision. He always had to fight for scraps and grew tired.
He was the one who seems to have no big problem, just everyman making movies. This is going to sound pretentious but he is like amalgamation of passion for comic book horror fantasy and action films. Some of his stuff is great, some is shite but his passion shines through most of his films, but its very down-to-earth like and not grandiose kind of passion
>>215084327Hey faggot we know what movies got remade we don't need you to list them
>>215084833Suck my dick, bitch nigger
>>215084895OP here, please no cursing/slurs in this thread
>>215083920I rewatched it a year or two back, remembering hating it way back when, but aside from the basketball scene, the surfing scene, and a couple of dodgy CG shots, I actually didn’t mind it that much.
>>215083973He’s basically got an infinite money hack thanks to Halloween, he really needs to get over it.
>>215084071thisHe knew how good he was compared to his peers yet the industry kept fucking him
>>215084425>Pressured into making a Halloween sequel despite considering the story finished and not wanting to rehash>throw back some beers, write in a silly plot twist and add more gore to try and appease the studios>use this opportunity to try hard at changing the series from a slasher franchise into an anthology series centered around Halloween, to keep it from becoming stale and bring new fresh ideas>state that Michael Myers is dead and isn't coming back, new Halloween film has heavy anti-capitalist and anti-franchising themes>Halloween shown on television in III, further dismissing Michael as being the future of the series>general audience just wants to see Michael Myers, anthology concept is rejected>that silly plot twist you wrote in that you consider foolish becomes canon for the entire series until 2018Halloween may be successful, but its a messy series after 3, I'd be pissed too. And with The Thing not going over well that's alot to deal with. My personal favourite of his is still They Live.
>>215084969That bad CGI is legendarily bad dough. The submarine scene is the worst offender.
>>215083795His only good movie was In the Mouth Of Madness
>>215083795Spends more time playing cowadoody than working on his music.
>>215083795he made some influential movies but never got his due, now he just wants to smoke dope and play vidya all day long
>>215086649>an anthology series centered around Halloween, to keep it from becoming stale and bring new fresh ideasSo basically all future directors/writers would be creating a technically new IP but it’s owned by Halloween? Who would agree to this?
>>215086649I'm retarded I think, but who are you talking about?I thought neither Halloween 2 nor 3 were directed by Carpenter
>>215083795The Fag
>>215087599again with the cursing
>>215087515>creating a technically new IP but it’s owned by Halloween? Who would agree to this? Are you legitimately this stupid?Do you know how intellectual property works?Deals are struck between creators and the people who publish/produce/distribute their creations in varying degrees. It's why you have certain characters that appear in franchises, and the creators receive royalties despite having nothing to no longer do with their creation. Michael Myers is owned by some film company but Carpenter gets a check every time they use that character depending on the deal struck between them. Some people sell their ideas outright; some hold on to some claim and rights through the deals they make to get the idea out in the public.
>>215087599The Fug :-DDDD
>>215087579>neither Halloween 2 nor 3 were directed by CarpenterHe was co-writer of Halloween 2 with the same chick who co-wrote the first movie with him. He even apparently directed some reshoots for H2. In a way it makes H2 even worse for me knowing that JLC being in a hospital bed the whole time was basically his idea/approved by him. AND he approved killing off Mike Myers at the end of the movie. Then he produced the third flick and tried to deconstruct the trilogy/franchise by making it an anthology-type thing and omitting Mike Myers almost entirely.
>>215087599That poster is better than the actual movie itself.
>>215088651Michael Myers is a lame character
>>215088681Mediocre movie but it has great atmosphere
