The biggest problem with Lower Decks is that its not Star Trek. It thinks it is, but it isn't.When the boomer generation wrote for Star Trek, they were writing science fiction stories, while trying to think of how a utopian future would still have problems. Lower Decks is written by millennials who just write what they think is Star Trek. Nothing but references, and memes, with a lot of lol so random humour with an undertone of mean spiritedness. It betrays the tone of Star Trek of being hopeful, for a frat house party. The whole Ricky and Morty humour really wears the appearance of Star Trek like a costume.
You don't think being complete shit is the bigger problem? I'd be fine with a comedic Star Trek cartoon, but LD is just awful.
>>215089232The problem with lower decks is that it's not the Orville or Galaxy Quest. The problem with modern live action trek is that it's not Firefly from the federation perspective.
>>215089232Was Mariner a Mary Sue or an actually good character?
>>215089232It's more star trek than anything shat out since voyager. Only retarded faggots who never actually watched the show hate on it, and they always spit out the same retarded overly parroted takes based purely off the stupid blast shield and bat'leth clips for season 1. LD was a fantastic love letter to everything star trek, without having a stick up it's ass. It was willing to mix humor and seriousness, much like SG1/SGA did, and was willing to make fun of stupid plot points or plot holes that didn't make sense. But again, only retarded faggots who didn't actually watch it are the only ones who hate it because they got filtered by a bad trailer and "modern adult cartoon" art style. /trek/ hates it only because the threads are inhabited by the same ~5 circle jerking faggots who are a vocal minority and hate everything nuTrek because their autistic asses can't handle anything new or different. The only consistently bad show out of nuTrek was Picard. STD unfucked itself but it was far too little, too late by the time it did. PROD was an excellent VOY sequel, but again, overlooked and shat on because "HURR DURR KIDS CARTOON WITH A SHITTY ART STYLE!". SNW is constantly solid, but people, once again, hate on it because "hurr durr too many women and PoC" with their main gripe being Ortegas, based once again off of looks alone. They see the haircut and assume she's a lesbian dyke preaching an agenda, but she's just a tomboy girlbro. Y'know, the ones /tv/ wishes would come back and say are a fragment of a bygone era. Starfleet Academy looks like the writers didn't learn from STD's fuckups and took zero beats from SNW, STD, or PROD. But we'll have to see.>>215089509An actual good character with flaws. She makes mistakes. She fails. She has to rely on others. She's a solid friend. But people will disregard everything related to her because of that single shitty launch trailer and the fact that she's bi and got in a toxic relationship with jennifer.
>>215089599nobody is going to read this spergout over a cartoon but here's a (you) so you don't feel bad about writing all of that
>>215089599Take your fuckin’ pills.
>>215089509She was a big fish in a little pond and feared moving on and growing up for many valid reasons it turns out. Good character but you need to let her story bloom a bit. She is built to fool you with easy answers.
>>215089599Wow, a pathetic loser wrote this post.
>>215089232The problems are that:1) Cartoons are a shit medium unless it's absolute top quality animation made by masters of their craft with stories that take advantage of the medium (Lower Deck has neither)2) It fucking sucks. It's a show for midwit manchildren and troons.
