Thinking about getting onto King of the Hill
Is there anything I need to know or be aware of before starting?
>>
it never gets outright bad but it stops being great (still good though) around the latter half of the series. the reboot stays around that same quality minus the worse animation.

I just realized they are all wearing the same shoes

Anyone, it was some show! Mr. Strickland got up under more balls than a midget hooker.

It's kind of a tough one if you're under a certain age. Because everybody's Dad was like Hank Hill in the 90s, and we could all really relate to the dynamic between him and Bobby.

You need to recognize that Hank isn't an asshole who think he's right and everybody else is wrong, he's just a Boomer male who believes it's his responsibility to hold frame and operate on behalf of his entire community. But there's more depth there when you understand it all stems from his own father who was reckless and mean. Hank's constant disapproval of Bobby ("that boy ain't right") comes from a genuine place where he wants the best for his son, and feels like it's his responsibility to guide him into becoming a man.

Truly a brilliant series. Some cheap/easy laughs in there, and never outrageously funny, but just incredible voice acting throughout and a perfect sense of mise-en-scene that puts you right in small town Texas. After a few episodes, you just start to feel like you're hanging out with your old buddies for 20ish minutes.

It will black pill you on women.
Peggy turns from a nice character into the most annoying tv character there is. You will skip any episode with her as the main plot in it. Think Skyler, but more arrogant

Nah. It's just reality, my friend.

Hank is annoying as fuck too, and would be pretty rough to have to life with as a husband. Peggy is the best available in a small pool, and Hank knows this. He never treats her too well or too poorly.

She's obviously blindly arrogant to a comic degree, but that's also because she genuinely think she's the class or Arlen, Texas... and she probably is. Hell, even Bill is hopelessly in love with her. Hotter women like Nancy are crusty and awful in other ways.

>Peggy is the best available in a small pool
Nancy exists. Her husband is a total loser but she is supportive all the way and wouldn't even leave him for John Redcorn. And eventually breaks up with John Redcorn so she can focus entirely on Dale

Hank is gonna seem autistic. That's cause he is.
>>
>>215091124
Peggy is a haughty dolt more so in the earlier seasons.
>>
>>215092564
Extremely closeted as well.
>>
>>215092564
>autistic is the word for eccentric now
>>
The only thing you might not notice right away is the Lucky is voiced by Tom Petty.
Which blew my mind when I found out, because I'd grown up with his songs being some of the first I'd memorized, but I guess I didn't hear hardly any of his regular talking voice.

just watched the gnome episode and it is her at her peak toxic. at least the vaio con dios episode is ironically funny at her expense as she is so ignorant about being in an affair with mexican actor guy
>>
>>215093862
That episode would fuck Bobby up for real. He’d never get over it
>>
>>215093920
KOT gave up lasting character growth around season 3.
>>
>>215091124
I still don't understand why Hank liked her. He was the STAR running back till he got hurt, there's NO WAY he didn't have at least 8 cheerleaders wanting his proPAIN
