Not memeing, I watched this for the first time, I think this has the greatest practical special effects on film ever. It surpasses The Thing Carpenter remake. The more you watch the film, the more your mind is blown by Chucky's movements and facial expressions. And it is genuinely creepy. And one more thing, the movie takes itself very seriously. Chucky is comical with one liners, but other than that, it is a serious film. Very strange choice for a slasher movie
>>
Dourif really sells it too. Hearing his furious yelling coming out of a doll is enough to make anybody jump.
>>
The second film does it better.
>>
>the more your mind is blown by Chucky's movements
Dunno about that. It's pretty easy to tell when they switch between a puppet and a little kid in a Chucky costume.

I loved it. I think the scare where she discovers he has no batteries and threatens to throw him into the fire and he starts speaking is so kino.

First 3 Child's Play films are a satisfying campy trilogy.

Nah. The first is the only great movie in the series. It went to shit when Mancini was allowed to direct and given complete creative control. I don't mind Seed as a continuation of Bride but Seed was the beginning of the end and when the gay subtext became explicit instead of implicit.
>>
>"Aunt Maggie, Chucky wants to watch the news."
Seems like such a throwaway line, but when Chucky was being deprogrammed in the series, he said the line again to show guilt for killing Aunt Maggie.

the second film is dourif's chucky perfectd but the movie is kinda trash. 3rd film is still trash but great set up, lots of fun characters to get murdered.

It was an actual midget in a costume and mask most of the time which makes it look even more uncanny than any of the sequels that went full animatronics only because the way they move about is different than how an actual child would it really helps sell that a fully sized adult serial killer was trapped in the body of a big plastic toy doll
>>
First 3 films are amazing, with Chucky 2 being the best of them. The 5th one was super weird. 7 was pretty good. The Chucky show is absolute kino.

The only one you need to avoid is when they made a modern reboot of the first movie. It was fucking shit

A midget in a costume and a mask doesn't really strike me as "the greatest practical special effects on film ever" as OP put it. Although it's all done very well.

Yeah, the remake is the only one I haven't seen, and I never will.
>>
>>215090959
It has some great effects but if you think it has the best effects work of any movie you haven't watched enough movies.

>The Chucky show is absolute kino.
Disregard everything this poster said.

Hated part 3. The boring teenage protagonists ruined it.
>>

The original voice was apparently Jessica Walter and Brad was meant as a cameo.

That would be empathic if "Good" Chucky hadn't bee fucking with them the whole time.
