Large numbers, huge demand and not much of a domestic offering so kdramas filled the airwaves making kdrama actors and actresses household names in China. Like 70% of airtime was provided by kcontent so the Chinese government stepped in to curb how much airtime could be broadcast. You really cannot blame them. It encouraged the production of domestic shows. Same time western streaming needed content so kdrama found a home away from home. They found western audiences weren't that goddamn picky as long as there was no progressive social shaming.
I wish I could watch kdrama with my kdg chingus.
