I haven't read any of these books since childhood so I genuinely don't even know what kind of character Dumbledore is supposed to be. Richard Harris looked like a nice old grandpa wizard but then they cast Michael Gambon who looks like a mean asshole and played the character accordingly and I wonder if maybe that's actually the right characterization.

Harry's revelation that Dumbledore groomed him to kill Voldemort and die doing it hit him pretty hard. Then he later found out several others were in the same position, Dumbledore manipulated them right to their deaths, but for the purpose of defeating his enemies.
