>movie is bad because...BECAUSE IT DIDN'T RESPECT THE NERD ASS SOURCE MATERIAL REEEEEE
>>215103491It's not that it "didn"t respect" it, it's just that it's 99% unrelated, the 1% left being the presence of zombies. I have no idea why they bothered to buy the rights, it was an obscure book to begin with.
>>215103792because the name World War Z sounds badass>>215103518people who didnt read the books (99.9% of people who watched the movie) give a singular fuck >>215103491it was bad but thats not because it wasnt accurate to the source material
>>215103491Ultimate zombie kino. Probably the best zombie movie ever.
>>215103890>not Romero zombies They were so close.
>>215103792>>215103828This, basically they bought the title. Back then they used to buy the copyrights of books just because the name was good to attract people to the movies, some samples are books about sex, or versions of other real books (as "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls")
>>215103491Then why is the nerd ass source material's name is the name of the movie??? Can't have it both ways faggot.
>>215103491The pepsi scene is insane
>>215103491Amazing flick. Love it when faggots trash a movie, and I watch it many years later with 0 hope and expectation. Makes for a pleasant surprise. Same with Cloud Atlas.Didn't they run out of cash at the end, hence the toned down finale in an industrial estate in the UK?
>>215103491A major theme of the book was about geopolitical turmoil and the establishment of a new world order, none of which was explored in the movie. Also,>zombies avoid unhealthy humansUh, it was bad, chud.
>>215103491I loved the section in Israel
>see poster for this in Turkey>"Dunya Savasi Z">literally never heard or seen it before>read that as "War of the Worlds 2">was pretty interested since I like the first War of the Worlds>watch it>it's a fucking zombie apocalypse flick that has nothing to do with War of the Worlds
>BECAUSE IT DIDN'T RESPECT THE NERD ASS SOURCE MATERIAL REEEEEEFormatting and delivery were the biggest selling points of World War Z and Zombie Survival Guide.Zombie Land was a lot closer in tone and delivery to Zombie Survival Guide in terms of its delivery, but World War Z desperately needed to be handled as an omnibus. The movie is just generic schlock and sabotaged what was otherwise an innovative book.
>>215104593The movie did gangbusters and brought attention to the book
>>215105874I'm sure it did, but we're still not ever going to get a proper adaptation of the book.
>>215103491The movie is OK but the book is way better. It should have been adapted to a TV show, not a movie
>>215103491I finally watched this after hearing people say is too hard to understand for years and years, but the movie was simple as fuck, not saying the movie was great but the movie not making sense is just a lie, or the people complaining were that much retarded.
>>215106385>people say is too hard to understandWhat? Are you sure it was this movie?
book aside, the movie is basically over after they escape the middle east , but somehow we still have an entire final act left.
>>215106385Literally no one said that ever. Not a single soul.
why did they silence him?
I love the idea of geopolitics and war between nations during a zombie uprising, unfortunately that's not really what the film is about.
What would a sequel be called?
It's astounding they never created a miniseries of this. There's like fifty or more stories in it. There's so much more content in it than just a 2 hour movie. It deserved way better than some shitty brad-pittslop.
>>215103491ultimate pure reddit kino
>>215105972>we're still not ever going to get a proper adaptation of the bookThere's more book adaptations than ever with streaming and it's been 12 years since this movie released.
>>215103491I like the part where Israel is overrun by rabid muslims
>>215103491World War Z its pretty good.
>>215108515>It's been 12 yearsThat's the problem, it's been 12 years. Interest in zombies was already dwindling by 2015 and wiped out almost entirely by the time Covid happened. The demand for this series is virtually dead. There was a brief timeframe that this could have been feasibly released. The movie took that spot, and we've since passed it so long ago that parts of the book would need to be rewritten to a current political climate, to an audience that no longer exists.
>>215108200for me it's the interview of the ukrainian tank commander. that alone would be an incredible short film (but then again pretty much every story there would except that mindnumbingly boring vignette about the crashed plane pilot hearing a ghost on the radio, that one was dogshit)
>>215109663>The demand for this series is virtually dead. That doesn't mean shit. They CREATE demand by actually MAKING good content. There was no demand for Game of Thrones. They made that shit when no one could have cared less and it blew up (yes, until they fumbled it). They start making an awesome, enthralling, faithful adaptation of the book and the audience will be there. If they make another shit brad pitt version though, yeah, it'll be a waste of time.
>>215109731I would however caveat that Yonkers would need to be substantially reworked. The problem with yonkers is I actually fully buy the idea that a US military might underestimate the threat and get overrun by responding too late (by which point the threat is too widespread to properly respond). But the way it's set up in the book, the guy has an absolutely woeful understanding of how effective artillery shells and tank guns actually are.
>>215109763>absolutely woeful understanding of how effective artillery shells and tank guns actually are.He doesn't though. You're just upset that fictional creatures are not abiding by your headcanon rules. Pressure waves don't affect them. The entire brain needs to be destroyed. Shrapnel has no effect. And that's that. No amount of your whining changes that. So tactics that normally work great to destroy a large amount of live humans are having little effect against a million zombies. And the military is too slow to adapt and brought far too much non-useful equipment. Which is extremely realistic to how slow these organizations are to change.
>>215109733>They CREATE demand by actually MAKING good content. There was no demand for Game of Thrones.GoT isn't a good example, there was a demand for another milkable fantasy series to fill the void that Harry potter was leaving with its ending, game of thrones filled that void and rode off of the success from the former by capturing that crowd as they were entering adulthood.I could see WWZ maybe getting minor success as an animated series, I feel like there's demand available there but I wouldn't be hopeful
>>215103491Yes.
