ITT: movies that take place during a war, but the war isnt the explicit center of the film.

I dont think you can say a movie with combat scenes thats about soldiers does not have the war at its center. A movie like Casablanca takes place during a war but is not about the war.

If you ever saw the movie, you'd know it's about the emotional toll that the war takes on people.

<Pic attached> is borderline I would say. The civil war drives the story but the actual conflict is in the background (no combat is ever seen) and the core of the story is the main character chasing the wrong man.

It's certainly a better example than The Hurt Locker.

That's what all war movies are about, you dingus. "People reacting to situations" is the basis of literally every story.

Yeah, no it's not.

A more realistic movie about EOD would be them playing video games for 2 hours, getting some shitty artillery platoon to escort them to the ied, taking a single picture to send back to headquarters, and then blowing it up like the combat engineer platoon should have done 6 hours ago.

>and then blowing it up
the EOD guys I know must be suicidal maniacs because they will try defuse anything suspicious they find instead of just blowing it up

Is Warfare the only movie to attempt this take on a war movie?

Set during WWII, but it's essentially a love triangle really (similar to GWTW).
>>

They're teaching themselves how to make bombs.

I'm not friends with any EOD guys but I've actually done route clearance.

Combat engineers clear roads. EOD take pictures.

EOD guys (and gals I knew a staff sergeant eod female) always want to get the fuck done and back to base. I never once saw them "diffuse" a bomb. I did see the chick jump out of her truck no armor and jump on a stack of corrugated roofing just to prove to one idiot that there wasn't an ied hiding in it.

And automatic arrest and njp for sneaking off base (desertion) in a warzone
>>
>>215110256
Nope. Takes place Christmas 1945, war was over.

You are not a soldier.

And that's ok. The founding fathers put faggots like Ben Franklin in charge for a reason

But don't ever pretend you've been in a fun fight.
