So will we ever get good 4K remasters for movies anymore or is it just AI slathering Vaseline on everything for the rest of humanity?
>>215110067Depends entirely on how you do it. Don't remove the grain and it looks good.
>>215110090You can put the grain back on and it still looks like a wax figure.
4k didn't exist in the dario argento times, so ai upscaling is the only way you can achieve it
>>215110123there's no better way to treat each frame
>>215110099Not the same thing, dumbo. Here's a 4K Alien screenshot. Doesn't look like shit.
Blu-ray is the sweet spot. The sooner 4K fagsaccept this, the better.
>>21511012335mm is like 5K and 70mm more akin to 15K.
>>215110067>So will we ever get good 4K remasters for moviesno"remasters" do not exist
Just rescan the negative, all the information is there. Why is this so hard for them to understand? What do they think they are achieving by doing this ai trickery? It's in fact REMOVING information from the image. Fucking idiots....
>>215110123>4k didn't exist in the dario argento times, so ai upscaling is the only way you can achieve itYou gotta be kidding me, nigga.
>>215110193this. I have a 4k tv and the difference between 1080p and 2160p is very subtle during normal vision, you have to stand close to the screen to really notice it.On top of that, 4k players and films are still very expensive even after 10 years from the lauch. For the price of a single Ultra HD disk I could buy up to 4 or 5 standard blu-rays.
>>215110186it still looks a little too cold
>>215110186oh and on the other hand cameron's aliens 4K is pure atrocity
>>215110067IDK I saw picrel last week and it looked incredible, just depends on the remaster and who is doing it where.
>>215110459You don't get it. They most likely did scan a negative and then used digital noise reduction filters on it because they thought it had too much grain.
>>215110186that looks pretty damn fantastic
>>215110650I was going to say it's different for animation, but then I remembered how Disney has ruined literally every remaster they've done.
>>215110591There's yellow to blue hue shift, but otherwise it's a pretty damn good upscale.
>>215110099>You can put the grain back on and it still looks like a wax figure.
>>215111320Yeah that PB one really impressed me, definitely the best version of that movie visually and audiably
>>215110591>>215111335it's quite a bit more red/magenta as well, which is visible in the skin tone and magazineI prefer top by a little, but I'm not offended by bottom
>>215111320the recent Snow White was decidedly not ruined
Is there a good website to cross reference this stuff bros? Whenever I download a film idk if I want the 4k, the blu ray, the hdddvd or the original
There's already a perfect 4k version of Tenebrae released by Synapse/Arrow. The majority of 4k restorations I've seen are very good, and the odd case of retarded grain removal didn't begin with AI.Is this the same German company that just fucked up Herzog's Nosferatu?
>>215110193sauce?
giallo sucks ass anyway. nothing of value lost.
