just watched this again for the first time in about a decade. holy kino, i think it might be better than the thing
>>215120257Best Carpenter film Best Lovecraft adaptation One of my all-time favorites
>>215120257I also liked it better than the Thing. It's one of my favourite horrors.>I'm sorry about the balls it was a lucky shot that's all
the thing is probably carpenters weakest film and yet it's the most popular, weird.
>>215120257They live and prince of darkness are his best movies.
>>215120257https://youtu.be/qs1qo46GfWs?si=lxqo4zqlpeYD9ru4This is amazingThe trailer made me laugh because I thought it was meant to be framed and cut in a modern irony for a mid90s film but it's literally the trailer for the 4k remaster from Arrow
>>215120257Nah, The Thing is better. It's a good movie though.
The Thing is more tight. Better script, better effects, small cast of actors. There is no wasted frame and everything you see serves some purpose. In The Mouth of Madness is more ambitious and can be pretty confusing for most people. It's not as tight and well made. Things like really bad old guy makeup on the biker stand out.People generally are going to like the smaller movie that is well made and doesn't have flaws than a really ambitious big movie that is a little more sloppy.
>>215120257It had a very interesting premise but I think they could have done more with it.After it was revealed that Jürgen Prochnow's character is basically omnipotent, there's not really any point in the movie continuing for much longer. It plays out exactly as expected, no more surprises or twists. I felt that the ending was a bit lacking.
If it was called in the mouth of dadness it could be a valid title for my biopic because I'm gay
>>215120582Arrow's 4k remaster trailers are magnificent.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKCN6hzD5J4

It plays out exactly as expected, no more surprises or twists. I felt that the ending was a bit lacking.Trying to resist fate is a widespread theme both in tragedy and in horror, I don't think it was pointless at all. It also makes perfect sense from the perspective of the story. The film we're watching is Sutter Cane's story, its narrative needs to be concluded for the world to finally end. The end of the world is not so much the metamorphosis which lets the old ones back in, but the fact that it has become a film that has a literal ending.
>>215120552>the thing is probably carpenters weakest filmYou've obviously never seen Escape From L.A.
>>215120257I like it a lot but the ending was kinda weak.
