I'm not very familiar with Naruto but One Piece has a lot of morals and themes left leaning people would identify with. Standing up to those who abuse their power, challenging unjustified hierarchy, standing up for the little guy, vastly different people of vastly different backgrounds coming together for their love of freedom... He wants revenge against Itachi for obvious reasons, but he also sincerely believes Itachi is pure evil and needs to be put down. The exact second he doesn't need Orochimaru anymore, he betrays and kills him because Orochimaru was evil. When he learns the truth about Itachi, he wants to destroy the leaf village because now he believes the village is evil. A lot of it is Sasuke just trying to do the right thing and punish evil, even though he gets progressively more insane as the show goes on.
