Basically the film is Majoras Mask in effect because Anything that comes from inside the grid only lasts 29mins before it disintegrates and it’s Encom (Dillingers grandson and mother Scully) vs a woke game company Asian chick who has just figured out the “permanence” code and are racing to get from one of Flynns old floppy disks. so Ares sent by Dillinger turns because of “benevolence”during this process develops Empathy and decides to help the Chinese girl instead of capturing her

The whole film is fucking shit


Music is absolutely trash ONLY on a couple of alone scenes where Ares is talking to the giant head andross from starfox does the music hit

But the chase sequences are long and drawn out in the city and the cinematography went over the top with red Tron was never red as it implied villain and corruption

As a Tron fan I fucking hate everyone saying the visuals are great there’s nothing cinematic the chase scene inside the grid has several shots that looks like it has background scenes sped up with actors reacting to the background scene because it’s so fast it’s retarded

Honestly the biggest question I had was why the fuck the old Grid from
the original Tron was somehow still around with a Jeff Bridges hologram in it. I thought it was upgraded to the Legacy Grid I think the movie would've been less enjoyable if I wasn't doing a 4DX screening, I would've been too focused on my questions

It's boring, the characters are flat, the dialog has no wit or energy, the story is the most by-the-books Disney storytelling you can get with an overly complicated narrative for something that's really simple, none of the set-up of Tron Legacy is here, the world building is terrible, the fights are poorly shot and edited.

It can look nice at times, and the soundtrack is fine (not great, and there were other better choices for artists for the score (not just Daft Punk). Its' not worth your time.

After seeing Ares, I'm rewatching the first two films. Both marginally more enjoyable than Ares. But, did they release a director's cut for Legacy? Because there are scenes where it'll have letterboxing, then it won't, and I don't remember that happening the last time i watched it.

Depending on how I'm feeling on the weekend, and what time I wake up, I'll consider seeing it before work.

On the Legacy Grid note, nta but I think I figured out the discrepancy that was bugging me. The Encom grid is THE Grid, whereas the 80's Grid is from the backup server. The part that was fucking me up is that there didn't seem to be any hinting that they took the full setup back with them, and the way they treated the situation with Kim made it come off like they didn't really prep a plan b. The soundtrack is good if you're a NIN fan. It's completely unrelated to the previous soundtracks, but some tracks are very reminiscent of Carlos's "A Clockwork Orange."

Why do you all suddenly care about Alan, Sam, and Quorra so much? Alan/Tron was greatly overshadowed by Bridges' charisma in the original. And in Legacy, he was just some old dude. Tron was also relegated to a side character in Legacy, and no one complained. Sam was just a boring white male protagonist from the 00s, and Quorra was just an eye candy for the male audience. You know what Olivia Wilde looks like now? Do you really want to see an old bogged hag in leather?
