Overall the show disappointed me with respect to the thrill/scare factor, I kept expecting more. Only a few episodes actually pull it off. I had to switch my intentions for watching the show towards comf and character appreciation

Half the point is the humanization of the threats

Didnt know that's what I was in for

Early '90s pre-MiB lead the way into the 2000s. Buffy was the first biggie to even have a firm overarching plot.
>>
The show is about scully being undecided about fucking mulder
>>
The creature living under the escalator is an image you don't quickly forget.

Babylon 5.
>>
there are no real aliens in the entire series.
>>
>>215144130
The movie has them
>>
>>215144163
nope. those are hybrids the syndicate created using the black goo to impregnate the women they "abducted"
>>
>>215144219
But they are in an alien space ship, which flies away. Piloted by hybrids? Were both on the ship?
>>
>>215143902
Where was Chris Carter getting his shit from? I always was under the impression he had three letter agency contacts feeding him stuff
>>
>>215144242
the feds controlled the ship. "aliens" and their offshoots can't handle the cold which is why the syndicate stored them there.

Damn

there is an agreement amongst the world powers that they must kill any alien they come into contact with. Roswell was the last real actual alien they came across.

The show suffers from writers compulsively injecting nihllist plot points into a story which is anti-nihilist in its message and content
All the victories are hollow

They had actual demons, Bruce Campbell played one in season 6's "Terms of Endearment" episode, season 2's had "Die Hand Die Verletzt" where a Satanic cult of teachers is possessed by Satan in the end to commit suicide
>>
The show works under the premise that things have to go back to the status quo by the end of the episode. So things have to be restrained to a point. You can't reveal demons being real during an episode because you can't put that cat back in the bag. It's like the simpsons suddenly becoming wealthy somehow, you know they're going to be back to where they started by the end of the show.

>no demonic possession
