are we supposed to feel more emotional because he has seen some flashy war in space?
>>
>>215153280
>praised as a deep emotional scene
>it was literally improvved on the spot
Such a garbage movie
>>
>>215153280
Yep, Op. You were. His speech is showing you that Roy is not just a one dimensional evil villain only bent on killing things. He has dreams, desires, feelings, sadness, joy, wonder, regret. fear. He's struggling to comprehend his short existence, where he experienced all this crazy shit that would blow the normal people's minds, but his life is already over. And it passed far too quickly. If he dies without telling anyone, it will be like he was never even there unless someone remembers him. And he chose that person to be Deckard, so he spared him. You would have figured this out if you were human. But you are confirmed replicant.
>>
>>215153309
Rutger improvved some of the script that’s all.
>>
>>215153309
So, for something to be deep it's supposed to be calculated, revised and re-revised, you absolute midwit retard? Use your fucking head.
>>
>i've seen things you people wouldn't believe
>i've seen a spaceship...in space
>i've seen a laser beam
Woah...
>>

Anon.
It turns out.
Where are you from?
>>
>>215153280

Don´t be purposely dense. He is accepting his death and telling his brother that since he is going to live in his place to please remember him.
>>
>>215153280
I used to think he was saying sea breams and was talking about fish with glittering scales.
>>
>oh my heckin science the replicants are good boys they dindu nuffin
Did people forget that they literally killed innocent civilians on a shuttle they hijacked and caused untold destruction in the city?
>>
>>215153280
Yes.
>>
>>215155575
they were slaves bro
>>
>>215155640
They were literally designed to be slaves, they aren't human
This is something people seem to forget about the replicants
Besides which, they were slaves, OK, doesn't justify killing innocents that had nothing to do with them
>>
>>215155575
you're not meant to feel sorry for batty, just realise that the line between robot and human has become very blurry, rachael is his innocent counterpart, batty was a devilish murderer who lashed out when he couldn't get more life.. or maybe he was still merely obeying his combat programming dun dun dun..
>>
>>215153280
no, thats not part of what makes t emotional at all, its the tears in rain part, the way he faces death as a obvious fact and just shuts down and his soul flies off in slomo, it makes people feel that just like me feel
>>
>>215155661
nothing justifies anything in that setting, its cyberpunk, justifications are fiscal and contractual, they dont need any justification for anything cause the barely understand what a justification is
>>
>>215153280
back from a month long involuntary vacation, frens
it's less what he saw and more that he saw at all. it was trying to reach across the, in truth, insurmountable subjectivity we all experience
>>
>>215153280
He lived more and had more adventure and glory in his 4 short years than most humans.

Most likely fake implanted memories
>>
>>215156842
He was a combat unit. Why would they implant him with memories of combat?
>>
>millennial writing
>>
>>215156894
>skip the rookie phase dirtectly to a hardened veteran
Why wouldn't you? The better option of course is making a combat unit unable to feel complex emotions like PTSD but that might be a necessary cost of making a smart enough android.
>>
>>215153280
No, you're supposed to sympathize with the heckin organic robot because it totally has emotions and other feelies just like a human being and totally isn't an abomination that never should have been made and should be exterminated immediately.

Fuck off with this "robots is people" trope. I'm so goddamned sick of it. A machine will never be a person, even if it's made of meat.

Rutger is a genius. That's what I took from it.

he was a little bit evil though, there was no need for him to brutally kill tyrell and sebastian in his final chimpout, maybe they could have used his existence to make new discoveries and do better than literal slavery.

You're watching the ending of a critically acclaimed movie. It's an emotional moment. Rutger Hauer pours his heart out in a poignant scene about human existence. Everyone around you is moved to tears, but you don't get it.
Why is that?
I mean you don't get it!
>>
the whole point of the movie is after this moment Deckard realizes the meaning of life and that, even if his memories/mind are being fucked with by shadow corporations, he wants to experience happiness and love and Racchel is worth running away with to feel that. It is indeed a profound moment because up until here, we saw with his last Replicant killing that he had to go straight to buy a liquor bottle because he was repressing emotion, and in this moment he realizes why that was as well. What a gr8 movie.
>>
>>215157649
The whole film is just a trip to watch, the visuals, the music, the plot and themes. It might be my favourite
>>
>>215157697
Yea its so good, all the elements work together like butter melting. Its truly one of the all time greats, so few movies have all the elements working so well.
