>>215156737meh not really. I feel like he has a similar complex like Worf has and I can't respect that

TOS over all has the best characters in Kirk, Spock, Bones, Scotty, Sulu and Chekov. If it had come out 30 years later when writers were more focus on character development and storyarcs instead of episodic structure, then there would be no debate.

my hopes for this episode just fell off a cliffoh well miri was not so bad and maybe this one will surprise me
>>215157402Child heavy episodes of TOS always make me uncomfortable because of the Lion's Den nature of 1960's Hollywood. Even Wheaton admits to getting molested from being a child actor.
A friendly reminder this Saturday is the big Star Trek presentation at NYCC. Updates on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy and the rest of the new Star Trek Universe.

I don't know if I would call this episode kino but I really liked it. One i had forgotten about for sure. The way Kirk saved the day with videos dealing with the trauma of the death of the parents instead of a technical solution was great.
friendly reminder that trek news guy just gets all his shit from reddit

The Vulcan story about how Romulans left the planet makes no sense. A group of insane warlike savages voluntarily got onto no-warp generation ships and exiled themselves across the stars, by miracle of some wormhole or another wound up on another planet far away, then never fought another war amongst themselves? The more likely scenario is that a group of religious fanatics on Vulcan gained power, and persecuted anyone normal so long that secrecy and paranoia became cultural traits among them, until eventually forcing the survivors of their pogrom onto generation ships. Somehow they survived and thrived, until they started having conflicts with the puppet state of their enemy who kept encroaching on their territory. I think most of the political strife between the RSE and UFP would have gone away if there had just been some accountability for Vulcan war crimes and persecution, and maybe an effort to give the Romulans their rightful homeworld back.
>>215159572If only
>>215156223Survival Instinct is the best Borg episode unironically. People shit on Voyager for demystifying and humanizing the Borg too much, but it's a few episodes like this where it really works.

>>215157753>>215157793This guy had an insane career. He represented every bigshot and scumbag in hollywood, defended jack ruby after he shot oswald, and was even personally trolled by the zodiac killer. Brian Cox played him in the movie.

Obviously, S1-S5 Dukat is best but I also enjoy ridiculous anime tier "This Bajoran woman had a Cardassian baby, it's a miracle" cult leader/granny fucker Dukat. It's impossible not to be entertained by Alaimo in the role, even at its worst.
humans are the only species that ever have to put up with doing stupid rituals to appease aliens. the klingons would've laid waste to the planet by now
>>215160883It amazes me that posts like this are somehow "on topic", but my now-deleted post >>215160466 where I simply deny being a janny (and provide evidence) after being accused of being "a janny ... or ... moderator ..." is somehow "offtopic". You seethers already are the Borg. Do you even realize what sort of hive-mind evil you represent?
>>215162292The entire Klingon way of life as portrayed in Trek is unsustainable. They exist to be side characters because if you look too hard at their society, it makes no sense that they ever got as far as they did.
>>215162350Fuck off Eddington
>>215162366>it makes no sense that they ever got as far as they did.At least the Krogan in Mass Effect had the excuse of a higher technology race uplifting them to space travel
why is the entire delta quadrant so backwards that one middling starfleet ship can just waltz through everyone's territory with no real consequence? a kazon ship teleported to the A/B wouldn't be able to just travel with impunity, even the Ferengi would be able to stop them
>>215162423We know by the 2150s the warrior obsession was a bit newer. Older Klingons were lamenting the change and the lack of focus on non-fighting professions. >>215162426Voyager was exceptionally lucky in that it was built almost exactly for that kind of thing. The Equinox is an example of how a more average starship would be, and they got fucked.
>>215162426They're all backwards except for the Dinosaurs who are so fucking advanced that they beam the entire starship into an even bigger starship. And they're a theocracy. I guess the answer is, for the rest of them, they're backwards because they're not theocracies.
>>215162486>2150sFuck off, not canon
>>215162426Voyager encounters plenty of civilizations that pose a danger to them. The Viideans outclass them technologically and are a real threat, though underutilized by the show. They're probably the strongest aliens encountered by VOY in the early seasons on a semi-regular basis. The Kazon just suck. They're basically like more tribalistic Klingons, and even more held back by their petty tribalism. VOY outclasses them in every way which raises the question: why are they the main early season antagonist? Why not someone more dangerous? It's a baffling decision from the showrunners.
>>215162350Stop raping women, Mike
>>215156086As someone who started on TNG and thinks it's the best, watched the Original and thought it was ok but somewhat boring, then watched DS9 and thought it was almost as good as TNG; I haven't watched Voyager yet, what am I going to think about it?
>>215162557VOY writing staff was so creatively bankrupt they gave up and defaulted to the fucking Borg
>>215162616I don't care what you think about it because anyone who thinks TOS is boring is a fucking retard
>>215162616Based on your opinions, I most certainly won't give a fuck what you think about Voyager
>>215162626this
>>215162626>>215162631Getting mad at people for ultimately trivial opinions is a sign of emotional immaturity. You obviously do care because you felt the urge to comment, you just don't like that you care. I said TOS was ok, but definitely had not boring episodes, but more boring ones than not boring in my opinion. TNG had a couple boring episodes I skip when rewatching now, but more not boring ones than boring so I think it's subjectively better. It's not that big of a deal, I hope explaining helped you understand that I was not insulting you or the thing you like. You seem to struggle with social interactions so I hope that helped.

I have a Mandela effect memory of Kirk beaming an away team of redshirts onto a planet only to find out the planet was not real and he sent them into empty space to die. >>215162366>>215162423The Klingons were conquered by the Hur'Q centuries ago and beat them back, people have figured that's how they got their hands on tech more advanced than what they could have come up with themselves

There are 3 Jewish races in Star Trek.Ferengi: How low-IQ antisemites view Jews.Greedy, materialistic, untrustworthy merchants with really big ears (giving them big noses would've been too obvious) who argue about their rules of acquisition like talmudic rabbis.Bajorans: How Jews view themselves. A wise people with a proud history far more ancient than the Federation (Westerners/Americans), more connected to and aware of the divine, never did anything wrong to anyone but still were victimized and subjected to the most cruel genocidal tortures by the wicked Cardassians (Nazis/Crusaders)Changelings: How Jews are according to high-IQ antisemites like the NSDAP leadership or Christopher Jon Bjerknes, Prof. Kevin MacDonald et al. Pretend to be regular White people when it benefits them, use subterfuge to influence political decision-making and rule entire empires from the shadows without the general population being even aware of them, plunge the galaxy into chaos and let the Goyim fight each other to further their own agenda. Then there's The Borg: The Jewish vision of how non-Jews will be in the Messianic Age, when all the Goyim have been stripped of their unique traditions, religions, customs and even individual will, and exist only to serve the Jew, with each israelite being granted 2,800 drones as his personal slaves (according to tractate Shabbat folio 32 in the Talmud)
>>215162616I think of VOY as the cheap knock-off version of TNG, which tried to do the same thing (as opposed to the direction in which DS9 took the franchise) but didn't really manage to pull it off.It does have some fantastic episodes though, Coda ended up being the most memorable one for me.
>>215163846>>215164554Are you thinking of "And the Children Shall Lead"? In that one Kirk beams some redshirts up to the Enterprise, but Kirk believes the Enterprise is in orbit, it's actually speeding away and the implication is that he just inadvertently transported those guys into open space. Obviously, this was before they decided that the transporter had a range limit.
>>215166631Coda is probably the best Janeway episode.
>Roddenberry flew most of his 89 missions as copilot of "Los Lobos."Why don't shuttlepods have badarse nose-art? Surely Tom should have painted a pin-up babe on the Delta Flyer at least.
>>215166910I doubt they'd invest in nose art, at a certain point they couldn't even be bothered giving them names. TOS was astronomers, TNG was astronomers from third world countries, DS9 was the rivers of planet Earth. VOY was just "shuttle".
>>215166655no it isn't that for some reason I remember him beaming crew somewhere but its empty space and you get that dramatic stinger when something back happens, but i've gone through all of tos and it doesn't happen idk, maybe its from another show but not many shows use teleporters
>>215167013The one with the blonde babe. The one with the redhead babe. The one with the brunette babe. That's how they should differentiate shuttlepods.
>>215166655>>215167057actually in AtCSL, the enterprise is speeding away from the planet because the crew has been hypnotized by the possessed kids, kirk tries to beam a couple more security officers down to the planet's surface, but he ends up sending them into open space since they're no longer in range of the planet
