What was the "point" of these movies? They're pretty interesting action-wise, but story wise... What is it about? It's still a mystery to me.
Dude everything is an illusion in capitalism lmao
>>215162516All retard-tier interpretations aside, it's about the fact that we actually really live inside of a computer generated reality. Factually.
>I think therefore I am.
>>215162558>we actually really live inside of a computer generated reality.I don't believe you
>>215162609I don't believe that you don't believe me.
>>215162646No anon, I mean really. I think the universe is physical and all. It's not a computer program, it doesn't make sense.
>>215162516if you stop believing that dangerous things can hurt you, you gain the ability to fly.
>>215162672>There's no spoon
>>215162660My sarcasm aside, that's what the Matrix Trilogy is really about. It's not fucking allegory or whatever. It's about Machines that plugged human brains into a vat and simulate all of their perceptions. The scary part is, how can you ever really know if you've escaped the vat?
>>215162706>The scary part is, how can you ever really know if you've escaped the vat? That's not scary at all. It just means that it doesn't matter if you're in a simulation or not: that's your reality.
It's more about the journey than the destination for me. I love all 3 movies but it has sloppy writing at times, and unravels a bit at the end.
>>215162748Whether or not it matters is of paramount importance. Saying it doesn't matter is just choosing nihilism. Nihilism isn't a fact, just a shitty philosophy.
Is the new one total shit? Never got around to watching it
>>215163102I kind of liked the new one. *Folds arms*
>>215162516there is no trilogy.
>>215162516The Matrix is actually a computerized Hell/Heaven/Earth/Purgatory and there are 9 circles/layers. NEO was on the "Office Space" hell and got out by being a rebellious faggot.
>>215162516the first one is>bro what if we remade all the cool shit from ghost in the shell, nuromancer and dark citythe second 2 are>well we came up with a sequel but we want to do a prequal, but they won't let us do a live action prequal so we have to do 2 sequels and we have apg due to all the ketamine this sex dom that we are both seeing together keeps pumping into us during sissy roleplay sex stuff we keep going to together despite being brothers
The first movie is partially about being trans, but it's mostly about radicalizing oneself to the possibility of overthrowing the established order. It posits that people tend be blind to the arbitrary systems that control our lives because we've never known anything different and struggle to comprehend any alternative. The Matrix argues that the first step to radical change is to acknowledge that the world did not simply fall into place organically but was deliberately created to be as it is. The point is that by experiencing this revelation, you will begin to notice that the system is upheld not by equilibrium or natural law, but by agents of the system who stand to profit from it. And furthermore, this revelation will empower you to disrupt the system in ways you never dreamed possible. The sequels are all gobbledygook.
>>215162516They are great action movies with interesting visuals and ideas. Storywise the original is fairly empty on it's own but it works more as a sort of cipher or a mirror for you to project on to and interpret how you see fit. It presents an effective and versatile metaphor with the Matrix idea. People make fun of all the dumb film student interpretations but that's literally half the fun of the film, alongside the great action and aesthetic. It's what makes the original good, the openness of interpretation, and what makes the sequels shit. The sequels tried to build lore and story on a foundation that was totally empty by itself. You have more half baked philosophy but it's over complicated and stupid and doesn't even understand itself or have any point. It's all a waste. Still got some cool action though.
>>215163324agp ass faggot
>>215162516I'm comfortable watching the 2nd one only for the action, and quite comfortable not watching the third one.Never saw the fourth one, but I don't think I missed anything. The Animatrix is supposed to fill out the "story" a little more, but does so like the Star Wars EU.
>>215163102Yes
>>215162516Trans rights are human rights
>>215162558>bot's on the fritz againdon't make me thump you on the head fonzie style
>>215164530that makes zero since, since trannies aren't humans. you might as well say insect rights are human rights
>>215162516Originally they were a pretty shallow exploration of gnostic themes (Mostly on accident, as they're just copying anime like Evangelion and Ghost in the Shell), but the Watchowski trannoids now claim it is about being a tranny.
>>215163324What a great take, anon. This reminds me the matrix review (more like an essay, really) which I read a long time ago and now can't find. The gist was, that the whole point of that movie would be defeated if you'd make a sequel for it. I don't remember much of the argument, but it did blow me away how spot on it was, considering it was written before Reloaded had been announced.
