>>215164142Middling isn't the word I'd use for it. Really dug leaning into goofier shit and the overall concept and themes were pretty high-level for a zombie movie. The middle sagged but the first 1/3 was pretty gripping. Also - bc some people didn't put this together, the leader of the group at the end is the grown up boy from the beginning of the movie (he wears the cross his dad instructed to keep with him "always" upside down here) and will be at first friends but ultiumately the antagonist of the second movie. They'll essentially be morally corrupted humans due to the kids warped worldview from his experience with his dad/zombies in the village as a child (also evidenced by their overly silly and disrespectful killing of the infected at the end and juxtaposed with the son and the father letting the kid zombie go at the beginning of the movie and the movie's overall themes of trying to humanize the infected). The kid from the first movie will eventually reject him and the Jimmy group and their worldview.
