The usual script is flashy, fun, cool, super dudes show up and kick the enemy's ass with little to no challenge involved. And or, the challenges are solved quickly and easily. Not so with the first movie. We see the tension and the danger build up to the epic final fight. We start to worry for our heroes. Their fate starts to look bleak. Taking risks with the audience's self esteem like that is how you build to a real triumph.
