Movies are dead. None wants to leave the house anymore.

Nobody has the money to go to the movies.

too expensive, noisy and smelly.
the movies are either zogslop or traumafaggery

I barely leave my house anymore because I'm too broke to do anything.

Too many spics nowadays

Fuck the movies

Most people don't have excess disposable income anymore and the society outside is depressing or even dangerous to be in.

Shut everything down and force healthy people to rot at home for over two years over bullshit Covid. Most people upgrade their home entertainment and get use to watching shit at home when theaters were shut down. Now with tickets at 16-20 not including over priced concessions and the risk of having loud niggere and spics ruining the movie, said people will just wait for shit to hit streaming. That is just the post Covid reality now
>>

Classic franchises like Indiana Jones can barely draw people to theaters why would they ever think Tron could

Movies have fucking sucked since the 90s. Sure there's been decent stuff here and there but movies were so insanely well done up through the 90s that even if you saw something shitty it was still at least all right. The craftsmanship has been lost.

There's nothing worth going out for

I came very close to going to Minecraft but it needed more showings of 3D Dbox smellovision. We have to go full William Castle here. How that is escaping anyone is beyond me. And why didnt Minecraft go to our big Imax museum? If you genuinely want to know I'd start there. Why did Minecraft not go to the Bob Bullock museum but Beetlejuice etc. did?

What's the point of watching movies in 2025?

>movie
>needs to be within 1:30 and 2 hours
>meaning all stories need to have that specific arc length
>meaning it's all the same effective formulas done over and over again and the few movies that try to break from them seem odd and unfinished

>streamed series
>story can have whatever length the creators see fit
>no need for episodic model since people can watch everything in order
There's literally no advantage to movies or episodic tv series. These come from limitations in publishing. Streaming is objectively superior, you can ship an 8 hour movie if it's paced well and people will like it, despite being an 8 hour long movie.

Making watchable movies without any underlying political messages instead of slop would be a good start if the industry wants more people in the cinema.

Anyway, just a thought.

Too expensive, so I only go see movies I REALLY want to see. Unfortunately, the viewing experience gets ruined by retards, which is extra frustrating when it's a movie you really want to see. Best to just stay home and watch things in an environment I can control. It's a shame, because I hate watching movie theaters die. It was a special experience.

Why would anyone go to a theater in 2025 when
- Modern movies are shit
- That one movie you actually want to see will probably be streaming in a month or so
- Digital displays are shit with low contrast and terrible viewing angles

Whereas at home you can pause, talk, eat what you want, go for a piss without missing anything, and if you spend a few quid your visuals/sound will be as good if not better

Going to the movies used to be a real thrill for me but now it's just a drag
>>
I have the money to go to movies, I just don't think it's a smart thing to spend it on. Last movie I even remember going to was LOTR ROTK like 20+ years ago. That was pretty epic and well worth the $5 matinee ticket + snuck in snacks from the grocery store next door.
Other notable experiences from around that time were The Mummy and the first 2 LOTRs

I don't get why they charge restaurant prices for a bucket of horse feed. Even if I tried to come up with a cheaper alternative to popcorn and soda I don't think I could. They come in as tiny kernels that only pop up once you prepare them, and soda is just corn syrup and tap water. The logistics is practically free. They could use this garbage as a loss leader to attract customers so that even when they see yet another disappointing capeslop they could at least justify the waste of time saying "well at least the popcorn was good".

Even as a teenager we never bought popcorn. We'd go to mcdolans or whatever before and then just watched the movie without munching on anything. It would've been nice to have some popcorn, but none of my friends were low iq enough to buy some. You can't justify it.

I live in New York City. They built a really nice, sixteen screen movie theater close to my home. It was so nice to sit on brand new recliner chairs, walk on brand new carpets. Within a year, negros starting showing up. Within two years, negros were there in large groups all day, all night, just hanging around. Within three years, negros overran the place, huge brawls outside, in the lobby, and in the theater while the movie was playing. Movie stops playing, light come on, everyone asked to leave the theater, cops arrive, just a nightmarish experience. The rugs, filthy. The chairs, ripped, stained, and broken. Non-negros stopped going there. The place closed down within five years of its grand opening.

Another new theater opened near me just a year ago, attached to a mall. This one has a few IMAX theaters of varying sizes along with HD movie screens. Recliner chairs, food delivery to your seat, the works. But already the negros have descended on the place and already the same thing is happening -- Brawls, very loud and rude behavior in the theater during the movie, pot smoking in the theater, cops constantly be called. Just a terrible experience already. So, I don't go there anymore either. Now I just watch at home.

i havent spent a dollar on hollywood since TLJ. I dont plan too either, i own a 83in oled and watch kinos from 70s-90s, making few exceptions for films like LOTR. Movies have gone the way of games catering to brown poor people and reaping the same result. No more pushing technological boundaries and state of the art viewing experiences, nope, just sweating non white people, cant even see a matinee bc theyre unemployed. Theaters used to offer an edge over at home viewing, no more, only re-releasing event/nostalgia films will bring the crowds out

If Tron:Ares were set in the Tron cyberpsace world with high budget special effects and audio design fitting of a movie theatre and an epic story about individualism and aspiration for the future I would go to the movies to see it.

As far as I'm aware, though, Tron:Ares is just set in the real world (boring for this IP) where some cyber-guys and their robot flying things come out or something? The marketing has impressed on me literally nothing that elicits more than a shrug and the question "Did this need to be made?"

Now, Tron:Ares aside, in general the movie theater experience is also bad now, as many other anons have pointed out. A lot of theaters have you assign your seat as well, which is cancerous to the experience because sometimes it turns out the seat I picked is too close to the screen, or too close to some degenerate, and I'll want to move, assuming its not a packed theater.

I'm also not going to pay to go to the movies for something generic, it has to be worthwhile to see on the big screen, like before the mid 2010s.

The simple answer, is that movie theaters are expensive to run, because the theaters are large, and require a crapload of air conditioning or heating.
In addution the sir vonditioning and heating, theaters are “custom built” with stadium seating, that basically prevents the space from being used for anything other than watching movies, or some other presentation on a screen. Back in the day, actual theaters, with stages were used as movie theaters, so the screen was lowered for movies, and could be raised for live performances, or other stage acts or presentations, which gave extra versatility to the space.
Modern movie theaters, require large expensive buildings, with high property taxes, and staff to clean the theaters.
The theaters also require movie vontent yo run, do unless the theater wants to play old movies, they have to abide by the contracts offered by movie distributors, which take most of the ticket prices.
The theaters make up the profit difference by selling concession food at ridiculous profit margins.
Popcorn also stores compactly, doesn’t go bad for years, and can be made relatively cheaply.

They should have thought about that before they shut down the economy for two years over the fucking flu, and got people out of the habit of going out. I'm curious what they're going to do to ruin old content. A massive amount of people watches them online. How do they make Friends not be about a group of 6 white people?

Movie going has always been a festive, communal experience. Don't be so mayo.

Trons fans are always going "why is our franchise not getting more attention" and then they don't even show up when the new movie comes out.

>NOOOOOOOOOO But it has Jared Leto in it and he's a bad man so I have to boycott it
Considering half of Hollywood was complicit in a genocide over the past few years that argument against 1 specific actor is invalid

I could buy a game for 16 euro and enjoy myself for 16 hours. A movie is 2 hour of enjoyment on top of having to endure the racially diverse folk.

I remember Imbruglia. That movie was hilarious. First the retard falls in love with a tranny, then the retard kills a kid, the the retard gets killed by his babysitter. Real laugh a minute comedy with wholesome messaging, there. Make movies Imbruglia again, am i rite or am i rite?

I want to minimize my time around non-whites as much as possible. For that reason, I don't go to the movie theaters anymore.

Even for dates, they are a lame option.

>>

The Covid lockdowns made many people realize that they didn't actually enjoy going to the movies, they just did it out of habit. Add to this that Hollywood doesn't actually make good movies anymore and there's no reason to spend so much money watching trash.
>>

1. Welfare.
2. They're hanging around the streets and car parks when cinemas kick out looking for easy prey.
Hollywood loves them, so they should be fine with much lower profits.
>>
>>215190721
Most people live by inertia, continuing habits until they have some reason not to. The pandemic broke the habit of going to the theater. Some came back but a significant portion developed new habits to replace that habit. Rebuilding those habits in the general public will take lots of resources and might not be worth the effort.

>Local tickets go for 12 bucks
>Check weekday showings
>Only movie starting before 7pm is Leo's trash that obviously no one wants to see
>Both Black Phone 2 and The Conjuring start late and only have one showing during weekdays
>Chainsaw Man and Demon Slayer only on selected locations
Yeah fuck you I'm not spending a Saturday afternoon having to put up with niggers just to watch shit horror films or trash tier anime
