They lied. Michael Myers' mask is not a Captain Kirk mask and there never was any Captain Kirk mask. It's an actual movie prop from the 1975 movie The Devil's Rain starring William Shatner. They all lied so John wouldn't get in trouble. At least as I understand they lied. I dont know if anyone has admitted to it yet. Or maybe I'm wrong and one of them has always admitted it. But its my very vague understanding they didnt. And there was some subsequent story concocted about finding it at a costume shop.
