Every complaint about a movie in the OP being too old I get, I will just make the next one even older btw. Total tiktok horror fan death.
what movie
>>215192304Black Sabbath
>>215192304I tre volti della paura
submitted for the approval of the necc enjoyers
>>215192332to me that sounds gay
>>215192359maybe its just you projecting
>>215192259>Eventual Tod Browning thread on the horizonI'd like to submit my complaint about the Night of the Hunter thread you haven't made being too old early
I expected this to be like Wishmaster, but with a way more serious, darker tone and a cool '80s BDSM aesthetic with Pinhead tempting and trapping suburban yuppie perverts into some wild, hellish shit. Well, turns out the cenobites are barely in it and the rest of the movie plays like a crappy Vestron Video flick. Nowhere near the horror masterpiece people make it out to be.
>>215192366maybe I just don't like European films
>>215192359mario bava is the opposite of gay
>>215192388didn't ask

>>215192400too bad now you know anyway
>>215192116>>215192173>>215192355Leaving emotional appeal out of it, are there any legitimate logic-based reasons why necromancy or necrophilia should be considered morally wrong?
>>215192384Well. I like it. But If hellscapes are what you want, you HAVE to watch II.
>>215192384I like 2 more
Bunch of draculas itt.... here is another neccfu in any case.
>>215192384I never watched it, but recently I saw an episode of Eli Roth's History of Horror about body horror, where they summarize the movie and I thought, That's it?? Also, Garak is in it. So, it can't be that bad.
>>215192484>>215192384To me the bloody intimacy of the relationship with resurrected Frank was the best part of 1.

>>215192384Life cycle of every Hellraiser fan:>Just watched Hellraiser. WTF? Pinhead is barely in it. It's actually about Uncle Frank.(YOU ARE HERE)>Just watched Hellraiser II. Now this is what I'm talking about! I loved the cenobite lore and the sfx. But wtf. It's about this Dr. Channard? Meh. Still not enough Pinhead. More Pinhead!>Just watched Hellraiser 3. HOLY SHIT LESS PINHEAD LESS PINHEAD PLEASE LESS PINHEAD. They should have been lesbians. WHY IS PINHEAD FREDDY?>Just watched Hellraiser 4. More Pinheadslop. I... I think I miss Uncle Frank.>Ongoing journey into hell itself from here
>>215192511Yeah there's still a bodice ripper pulpiness to a lot of that one, common to some other 80s ones, like Lair of the White Worm. Rakishness dies as shit gets closer to digital
last pinhead is a tranny btw
>>215192486I always feel my inner vamp come out whenever a qt with a nice necc appears.
>>215192656I went in to the series mostly blind and was surprised how hard Pinhead jobbed to that doctor guy.
>>215192656>Life cycle of every Hellraiser fanSounds plausible. I'm just a little confused as to why the first one is held in such a high regard. I even remember Joe Bob calling it a top 10 horror film of all time. I at least expected it to be more unique, but it does nothing that other, better '80s movies don't do.
Lord of Illusions is hands-down the GREATEST Clive Barker film.
>>215192384This is what modern horror does to attention spans. The ideas of the movie are what makes it good. The idea of eternity in hell over something as minor as solving (or desire to solve) the puzzle box.
>>215192868>Better 80s horrorWhat are they? (Serious question.)
>>215192869It was a good movie but the casting for the cult leader was wild. Supposed to be this handsome infinitely charismatic magician but it's Hillbilly Harvey Weinstein with a pet monkey. Prime Famke was perfect though.
>>215192875The visual design, the good practicals. The silken -- not slow -- progression of events the categorizes Barker films. He accentuates it with the way characters move, I am just now noticing.
>>215192915That's the point. His blinding radiance is an INNER thing, or they would have cast young Brad Pitt.
>>215192935But he was a real jerk!
>>215192915He was powerful due to his sorcery not his charisma. Also he was demon possessed.
>>215192996Hypothetically could I also still get a hippy girl harem if I looked like that?
>>215193043Didn't you mention Weinstein?
>>215192989A slick-talking bully who can summon fire and make you see things? Who seems more *outwardly* earthy and approachable because he's slovenly and greasy, and not some blinding angel of a man? He is a humble deceiver, and his compound isn't super-massive anyway. He drew to him what he needed with his Hillbilly Harvey mysticism.Don't know about you, but if a fat hillbilly showed me magic and could give me magic, I'd listen to what he had to say. I'd believe an ugly wizard over a lovely one.
>gets stabbed twice, once in the stomach and once in the chest, then falls down the stairs>gets up like it's nothing few seconds later with no signs of weakness or blood lossGood movie but this kind of bothers me. It's so jarring to see this Jason/Michael Myers bullshit in an otherwise relatively grounded serial killer movie.
>>215193064I don't have money or demon powers but sometimes girls say I'm funny. I just need a way to leverage that.
>giallo >grounded
>>215193087You and me both.
>>215193069Just pretend he was wearing stabproof armor underneath
>>215193087The "funny" is overrated. Mostly the "funny" guys are just annoying. Being confident and seeming not to care if they like you is key.
Should I do as the poster says, and unleash the Dogg?
>>215192888Videodrome, The Fly, The Thing, The Shining and Day of the Dead are a few that come to mind.
>>215193258Snoop Dogg seems like a genuinely nice guy but I've been told not to relax under any circumstances.
>>215193069You'd be surprised how long it takes for pain to register and how much you can keep going while shot or stabbed. So long as they don't get an artery, you're probably going to take a while to notice the full extent of your injuries. For example, a lot of people who get shot don't register they're hit, some think they're stabbed or punched by something else if they do register the sensation at all despite hearing shots.People who fall over when they think they're shot, or who fall over when they're actually shot, are doing it because cowboy movies and games taught them to fall over, not because it's the natural response to getting shot. Most people don't fall over or even notice for a few minutes. The force in a bullet or blade is sharply focused and not the kind of thing that knocks you off your horse in real life: a strong gust is more likely to do that than a bullet
>>215193281Hellraiser is definitely better than Day of the Dead.
>>215193281All different types of horror. Hellraiser is supernatural horror.
>>215193069Saw a police video of a guy getting shot several times by one police and keep running into him, like 7 or 8 times or more
>>215192875My critique has nothing to do with attention spans. I agree that the core idea and even the set-up are fantastic. It's just that the film spends time in the wrong places (the boyfriend of the daughter and their relationship were completely unneeded, for example) and it feels rushed and messy at pivotal points, like the end.
The Conjuring Last Rites was fun but a little lazy written. The Devil made me do it was better.
>>215193293He got mad over the gay couple in Lightyear. He's a chuddie.
>>215193440>but a little lazy writtenthe same could be said about the other conjuring films
>>215193293His life got way too good to keep up the act of some street thug gangster rapper, but I don't know how good of a guy he is.Also>In 2012, Snoop Dogg endorsed Congressman Ron Paul in the Republican presidential primary,[251] but later said he would vote for Barack Obama in the general election, and on Instagram gave 10 reasons to vote for Obama (including "He a black nigga", "He's BFFs with Jay-Z", and "Michelle got a fat ass"), and 10 reasons not to vote for Mitt Romney (including "He a white nigga", "That muthafucka's name is Mitt", and "He a ho").[252]> In 2015, Snoop Dogg reportedly posted his IQ as 147 on Instagram.
>>215193434Yeah, I agree with this. But if you consider the budget was only $1 million and we are looking at it in hindsight after it influenced so many other movies that still aren't able to top it or don't really even understand what made it good.
>>215193483>is a gangster>surprised he isn't a good guy
>>215192259Based beyond belief.
>>215193258dude's been unleashing the Dogg all over Martha Stewart's dusty puss for decades nowis this considered gangsta or
>>215192259My complaint isn't that the movies are old, but that the OP should follow a simple format. Edition, previous

>>215193750As long as the banned movies guy isn't here I'm fine with it. This is actually a good thread.

>>215193467>the same could be said about the other conjuring films>let's move the mirror>i'll get the car readynot like this.
>>215193768Near Dark will give you an appreciation of life and has a Literally Me aspect with cute waifu.
It would have been better if it was just her story.
>>215193981>Near Darki have seen and it's not a horror
>>215193778>>215193913I'm not talking about the rest of the thread and what other people post, I was responding to a post about the OP specifically, the way it's done. Ultimately it doesn't matter, but it looks best when it's straightforward and simple. It's just there to start the thread and be easy to spot in the catalogue
>>215194008No, I get ya bro, I was just extolling the virtues of other posters, almost-topic.
>>215193984You're right. She was the most interesting character
>>215194005>Not horror. I think you're being too narrow. If it's got any of the overt trappings of horror, it qualifies. Blood suckers are innately scary, man.Apropos of vamps, I hated the Fright Night remake. Called it, Navy isn't ranked. Guess the only way they're getting ranked is going undefeated and beating 3 current ranked teams, which includes ND. Oh that's right, magically all those 3 teams won't be ranked anymore to hurt their resume and keep Navy out of the playoff. Man I love how rigged this shit is.

40s/50s black and white kinos with their lighting, set design, standardized acting and regulated camera work is very nice 2nd screen easy watching while reading my spooky visual novel. something very familiar and predictable about the proceedings makes it them comfy. not like I actually expect them to be scary so I don't feel bad
Looking for a horror/thriller that seemed interesting, all I got is that the main conflict was a woman being unable to leave some place because the exit door kept sending her back where she started, and there was a reveal that the door was normal but she (willingly?) got a memory wipe whenever she reached the outside. I found out about it by taking a peek at a video that stitched together some scenes to show a "true" view of that happening

Non-American here. Watching sinners right now. Do black americans ever get tired about whining about slavery and being oppressed by da white man? You'd think slavery was unique to them given how its the only story they can tell.

1/2Cast a Deadly Spell (1991) – A Strong Worth a Watch. In this clever movie made for TV, we see Fred Ward (Remo Williams himself!) as private eye H. Phillips Lovecraft. Set in an alternate 1948 L.A. in which *almost* everyone uses magic -- Lovecraft is hired to track down a stolen book, none other than . . . THE NECRONOMICON! He’s pitted against cool rubber demons (one of which is summoned from a stew pot by eldritch runes!) big, black Haitian zombies, and various FEMME FATALES. In the face of all this madness, Lovecraft *refuses* to use magic, just because it conflicts with his principles; like every literary P.I. worth his salt, from Phillip Marlowe onward, Lovecraft has a CODE of sorts. (In short, he considers magic a big CHEAT in the game of life.)
>>215197490No, is it scary?>>215197570Obscure japanese drama movie, they used to make threads about ”that scene” a lot here a few years ago
>>2151979342/2The setting is a strong point, being fairly fully realized -- you just know that if magic *were* real, people would use it to cheat, lie, and kill, and have cheap Haitian zombies (purchased in bulk, because they wear out and rot) throw up substandard housing developments. The magic is really interesting too! We see a guy cut up in a WHIRLWIND of newspaper scraps (very anime-like) in a bathroom! We see demons summoned with the equivalent of fuda talismans, and tireless gargoyle henchmen in lieu of security systems. Another big point in the movie’s favor is the dialog, which is EXTREMELY faithful to the non-supernatural source material, no-holds barred, no feelings spared. Lovecraft asking a homosexual if he met his beau at a “fag party” is a direct reference to a memorable line in Chandler’s The Big Sleep. If there’s one thing against this very fun, creative movie, it’s the lack of dynamic camerawork -- which is very *TV*, very flat and workaday. The sets and costumes, however, are quite nice, though the TV flavor can’t be shucked off. If only there were some bright accents to set against the blurry darkness! (Perhaps if I saw this in better quality -- and I’m not sure it yet *exists* in HD -- it might climb up to Excellent . . .)
Just finished sinners. The Irish vamp was the best part of the movie. Every single song of his was a banger. Moving past that The sheriffs whole plan of selling them the barn and then waiting a coupple days to kill them was fucking retarded. Also how did the black guy teleport to stab head vamp in the back at the end? The entire coven was between the two and they were knee deep in water
>>215197957Why did the movie hate asians so much? Wasn't it supposed to be about how racism is unjust? Why was racism against asians okay?

Just finished. Complete snooze fest that really isn't a horror movie at all, but is full of very nice exposed fake tits. Wish Linda had gotten hers out this time. Might have the worst plot I've ever seen in a movie and I watch complete trash. Blacula has a brief appearance.

>>215198517My review for Death Line from Spooktober 24:1/2Death Line (1973) – Where I expected a blood-spattered bit of sensationalism, I discovered an Excellent, detailed story of cannibalistic HUMAN underground dwellers. We start off with some big, bowler-wearing muckety-muck from the British defense ministry, trolling the subway at night for hookers. He is presently kidnapped from his carnal quest by a man-eating scion of the subterranean world: a descendant of workers who were trapped in a cave-in while expanding the London Underground in 1892, and who since have gotten by eating rats, and later, LONDONERS after having cleared an opening a generation or so later. What separates this from the exploitation flicks and “video nasties” of the era is a great attention to detail and well, *believability*! The degraded, plague-rattled “monster” is portrayed with success as a sympathetic figure, bemoaning the death of his equally diseased, very pregnant girlfriend, and getting by the only way he knows how -- by kidnapping unsuspecting folk from the subway and SLASHING their throats with a triangle of sharp metal before eating them!
>>2151985902/2With its careful story and rich characterization, it feels much more like a straight-up adaptation of one of the better British horror novels than a typical horror flick (think of quality writers like Basil Copper or Bernard Taylor), but the story, oddly enough, is actually written by an American. Yet there is so much rapid-fire banter that I can’t help but believe that there is a lot of improvisational work too, and it goes a long way.But if I have to pick ONE element that gives Death Line that decisive touch of class -- that sets it above Worth a Watch and into Excellent territory -- that would be the presence of DONALD PLEASENCE, who in fact is NOT playing a man of learning who delves into darker matters, as per usual . . . but Inspector Calhoun, a working-class police inspector! Who rattles on endlessly, and realistically, and I can only imagine EXTEMPORANEOUSLY, about cups of hot tea . . . and who badgers the film’s INCREDIBLY ANNOYING American Student with a dozen (sort of) playful threats every half-minute at the station. A too-brief appearance from Christopher Lee as a saucy MI5 agent adds another tasty dash to the mix.

The Video Dead was a fun watch. several odd choices but a lot of soul. like filling up a sink with soggy food scraps, brown water, and dirty dishes and making the lead stick his naked hand in it. good zombie makeup. several goofy memorable lines delivered by the adult male lead in his weirdly high pitched childvoice. and a panty shot.

>>215199624Jason marathon is hard thing to pull off, even in a week. Come back again and so finish later though. It's essential sloppa. The psychic girl was the best part! She was underutilized. What F13 really needs is *more* overt mysticism. A crowd of lesser zombies. Pam Vorhees' head talking for real and levitating like a bodiless Indonesian vampire. Crystal Lake spirits. An enemy that Jason fears, but who's not as relentless.

Anyone have some quick recommendations for older but still great cinema horror? Basically, stuff before Rosemary's Baby and after the Universal monster movies (seen them). I can only watch a limited number of movies this month and I'm tired of watching the more popular classics. I'd rather it be auteur shit instead of cheap b-movies, seen plenty already. Just finished. 90s jap stuff just clicks with me. The way it's filmed, the boxy cars, the anxiety underneath it all. This one starts a very cute girl I would assume was an idol, and has a wacky brain transplant plot that collapses into nonsense in a disappointing way. One really cool surgical scene halfway in but overall a mess. Based on a Kazuo Umezu comic, which line Junji ito's stuff, just never translates right into movies.
>>215200035Val Lewton produced those films, but they are known as his because he had massive input. They are known, for their cinematography, as art-adjacent horror films.
