It was canceled for being "antisemitic." I remember hearing some kvetching about the Skeksis being kike tropes back in the day. Funny, Star Trek got away with the Ferengi and Harry Potter the goblins but I guess they were lovable kikes and not evil hand wringing caricatures of "the chosen people" irl.

The reason why they suck so hard throughout is that they are trying to emulate the Skeksis with their Game of Thrones bullshit, instead of being giga-druids like the Grotten. This is why Deet is also the most powerful Gelfling shown, because she's the only one of the main characters trying to be a giga druid. The others are all trying to be something they are not; a warrior, a scholar, a sorceress, a paladin, all the Maudra's miss the fucking point by miles. All the "elite" castle guards and useless warriors, the dumbass gypsies getting off on alchemy and deception. They are all trying to be Skeksis without even realizing it, and this is why Aughra is perpetually enraged.
