Will the inevitable Paramount-Warner merger under the control of David Ellison be good for television and film?
>>215196097It's actually hilarious because warner bros actually had so many box office hits in 2025 but they're still gonna get bought by paramount with mission impossible movies that flopped Lol
film corps gonna keep eating each other until they can adjust the industry away from ticket sales. disney will probably survive because too big to fail
No. One fewer studio means there will be less movies produced. Also every merger or whatever WB has done has been a disaster. No reason to think that won't be the case again here.
>>215196097we need to rigorously enforce anti-trust laws backed up by capital punishment for jewish billionaires
>>215196097You all assume it will be Paramount. Zaslov is going to have a bidding war next year. Paramount is going to have a massive challenge since they just had a merger. There is going to be a lot roadblocks and congressional challenges over monopoly and FCC is not going to approve it as fast as they did the Paramount merger if at all. The most likely buyer will be Apple which will make their bid when bidding war starts. They’ve collaborated with WB with F4 and shown interest in wanting to increase their library and needing a distributor to distribute their movies
>>215197055We went from the Big 7 at the peak 50 years ago to still having 7 major spenders>Disney-Fox>Amazon-MGM>Paramount-WBD>Netflix>Apple>Sony-Columbia
>>215197174There won't be a bidding war. Netflix has said they don't want it and Apple doesn't do huge acquisitions. The FCC/FTC will let it happen because it will still be smaller than Disney and Netflix and Ellison is a Trump donor.
>>215197214It’s inevitable in today’s steaming landscape. WB and Disney had a streaming war against Netflix and for spanked. It’s why both companies have huge debt. It’s going to come down to who has the biggest and most diverse library worth subscribing to who will survive
Whoever wins, we get to see that studio inherent the WB curse and tank as well
>>215197255Library is less important than zeitgeist shows and movies. Wednesday is more valuable than Scorsese's filmography to streamers.
>>215197055WB as a brand and icon needs to clean out the nepo bums in charge, while keeping their valuable IPs. Zaslav is willing to sell the likes of DC and Loony Tunes for a write off, and SkyDance has deep pockets and a talent pool to keep that from happening. If this merger doesn't go through WB will be unrecognizable in 10 years, and that's not what cinema needs after Disney destroyed Fox
>>215197346Zaslov handed DC to Gunn, which even though /tv/ hates, is a pro-artist move. And Sinners and One Battle After Another are the top 2 Oscar movies. Zas is delivering.
>>215197426Zaslav put WB up for sale, anon
>>215196097WB rejected the $20 a share bid from Paramount looking at bids from Amazon and others still
>>215197346>Zaslav is willing to sell the likes of DC and Loony Tunes for a write off,That would the worst business decision ever.
>>215196443WB has been kind of struggling, but not in the worst shape. The DCEU started off making money - Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman (in that order) all did well at the box office. But the Snyderverse eventually died after the failures of Wonder Woman 1984 and Aquaman 2.(partially because when Gunn was hired people knew reboot is coming)The last DCEU movie that actually made a profit was Aquaman in 2018, everything after that (aside from The Batman in 2022) lost money. Around the same time, Fantastic Beasts 4also flopped, basically ending the HP film franchise.Since then, WB had a huge win with Barbie crossing $1 billion, and both Dune: Part Two and Godzilla x Kong did great last year. This year’s been great too. Superman underperformed, but the rest of their lineup (Minecraft, F1, Sinners, Weapons, etc.) all made solid money.I counted, WB had near 4 billion box office cross this year.
>>215196443paramount hasn't existed for months, it's skydance wearing a paramount skinsuit
>>215197931You’re right. Paramount has a lot of legacy stuff it uses in the streaming wars - Star Trek, Yellowstone, Nickelodeon, and movies like Mission: Impossible, Transformers etc.Skydance is a new monstrosity - an evil entity.
>>215196097Its only going to be good for one thing, Israel.
>>215198170Based
does it even matter anymore? we're so far down the shithole i dont think the good times are coming back
Whatever happened to TriStar pictures? I miss that horsey.
>>215197214As far as I can tell, Sony is using Netflix as its streaming arm, by producing virtually all their productions. It is an unofficial marriage.
>>215196097lollmao
I always forget that Paramount is one of the oldest companies, while Warner is something of a newcomer, even though they have had so much success in the latter half of the 20th century.
>>215196097Haven´t the HBO merger taught you nothing?
Imagine if this happened. Both brands are iconic. What would happen to the branding? It's not like Disney and Fox, where Disney is for kids and Fox is the actual studio name.
>>215198396The end result would be going back to the big (original) three: Fox, Paramount and Universal. Full stop.
>>215198353It's still hilarious to me that AT&T spent billions on buying Time Warner just to sell it off less than six years later.
>>215198230Sony owns Tri-Star
>>215196097start investing in anime>budget 20 mil
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htdK962TQ1MFox is this nation's first studio
>>215198513That'll be 100% tariff plus tip.
>>215198532comic book movies are deaddied after endgame
>>215196097If it came down to money, WBD is more likely to buy Paramount than the other way aroundThe major thing to remember is that Paramount doesn't have the money to do it. In order to raise the money, it is assumed that Ellison would pump in more. But since Paramount is a publicly traded company, he can't just put money in, it has to be done via a stock offering. BUT... any stock offering would dilute the value of current shareholders to almost nothing. So Paramount is basically asking its shareholders to accept a poison pill in exchange for buying a company it can't afford. Contrary to the rumor about a merger, Warner Brothers Discovery is owned by AT&T money people. AT&T is excellent at bringing value to its shareholder, fixing broken companies, and gobbling up everyone who gets near them. Hence, if any deal between these two is announced, read carefully to see which is in charge of the other
>>215198594Some comparative statistics: Both are publicly traded company:PSKY - Paramount Skydance> Market cap - $18.635B> P/E ratio - 566.67> EPS - 0.03WBD - Warner Brothers Discovery:> Market Cap - $42.33B> P/E Ratio - 55.16> EPS - 0.31Now who should be buying who?
>>215196443>>215197776Wb has had their best year in like a decade or something. Kinda impressive to be honest, considering that a lot of their hits were original IPs instead of just sequels and remakes. And in fact, their big capeshit sequel did worse than an original movie about a boomer driving cars.>>215196097Probably bad. Mergers just consolidate money while stretching out the chain of command, providing little oversight to the day to day actions of worker bees which results in even more soulless outputs.
>>215198623That's why this news sounded so surprising. But it's all over the news.
>>215198594what are you talking about? Ellison can pump in more money or take out debt and still maintain ownership.
It looks like Paramount trying to boost its brand by absorbing and suppressing a more successful brand. Pretty ballsy. I guess it's the only way they can survive.
>>215198708Also, Paramount made Sonic. They should live on for doing that as well as they did, and for that alone.
I was thinking about this the other day. Why didn't Sony, a Japanese company, make Sonic the Hedgehog the Movie? Then I remembered that Sony and Sega used to be rivals back in the day. Well, they passed up a major cash cow. All the little kids I see around have Sonic plush toys and whatnot, and it's all because of that movie.
>>215197214You forgot Universal. It's the Big 8 today. The problem isn't lack of content. It's just stuff people don't watch.
>>215198671Third generation AT&T holder here. It's the gift which keeps on giving>>215198708> boost its brandIt looks more like it's trying to save its balance sheet. With EPS of 0.03 and a PE of 566.67, their stock price is already well into bubble range; and they don't have the EPS to justify anything above $2 per share (If they had a PE identical to WBD, which itself is too high, their share price would be $1.65 instead of its current $17)>>215198680Whether it's done by pumping in cash via a stock offering or taking on new debt, it's still a poison pill to current shareholders other than ellison; which means their investment goes to to the toilet either way. It's probably too much to ask the shareholders to accept losing their entire investment in exchange for allowing ellison to destroy the entire company
what about Paramount debts?Aside from a couple all their movies are flopping and tv series are getting cut. Think about Star Trek...
no its a terrible idea to give one person this much control over media
>>215196097This is in the top 5 yearly wins in Jewish history:>Finally maybe moderating your enemies so they shut up and just spend time building resorts get your hostages back>WB gets the most #1 movies ever>Skydance merger>Charlie Kirk dies and nobody will EVER prove it was you>OpenAI takes over AI, Facebook takes over TikTok in popularity AND just for the hell of it, you take over TikTok and let China work for you who cares how the algorithm works>Trump basically sets up a place where crypto has no laws and you can do whatever you want so you control crypto now
>>215198594the offer was all cash $20/s and WBD rejected it as lowballif they come back with $25/s they might go for it but netflix is already lurking
>>215198922doesnt matter. david's dad larry is the actual owner and he is either the richest or second richest man in the world worth more than $350-400 billion depending on the day of the week. he loses or gains more than the entire WBD market cap in single days and paramounts cap hourly
>>215199579Netflix said they don't want it.
TMNT are going to become canon in the DC universe
>>215199669not exactly, i wouldnt count them out just yet. having HBO under their banner would completely eliminate a major streaming competitor
>>215198656>And in fact, their big capeshit sequel did worse than an original movie about a boomer driving cars.F1 was released in China. Superman wasn't. That's all there is to it. Trying to spin it into some major F1 triumph is disingenuous and reeks of Snyderfag.
>>215198073>>215197931>>215196443>>215196097Paramount is literally Apple's subcontractor bitchLook up on IMDB how much shit gets made at "Paramount Studios" or uses Paramount in the field in Canada/UK/Ireland/New Zealand for the Apple+ showsJust watching the one shitty "Murderbot" series made me disappear into the rabbithole that is modern streaming subcontractingno wonder Hollywood is pissing in its pants, nothing is being filmed, edited or being spitballed in Commiefornia anymore
>>215196443It's not about that. WB keeps flopping from owner to owner as a money laundering scam.
One thing is for sure, you’ll be getting much more zionist propaganda
>>215198790Fuck up furfag
how would that even work? wb is way bigger than paramount and paramount is like 30 billion in debt... like seriously, this is idiotic
