Brutal walling
>>
>TV pre netflix were able to shit out season every year pretty much
>now it takes 3 years in between

What's the actual explanation for this shit
>>
>>215200151
Brutal. That's how it ends when the semitic genes kick in.
>>
Byler endgame or we riot
>>
>>215200230
Laziness.
>>
>>215200230
Those series cost more than movies and have movie quality cinematography and lightining but need 4x the scenes to film.
>>
>>215200262
There are more scenes but there aren't really more locations or more complex shoots in those scenes. It doesn't actually take 4x as long or even close. More like 1.5x.
>>
>>215200151
Wtf aren't they all in their 20s? Finn is already norwooding hard
>>
>>215200262
$60 million per episode doesn't even seem real when I read the article. What are they doing that is triple the budget of any other tv show?

Seth Mcfarlane paid $8 million for a TED episode and they had to CGI a realistic toy for 30+ minutes.

Seriously, wtf is going on here? This is not normal. That's already a Norwood 2, fast approaching 3
>>

There is absolutely no way it costs that much. A whole season, maybe.

Anon some man start balding during highschool.

ST4 cost 30 million per episode.
>>

The new season has a 600million budget.

No, it didn't. See what I did there?

Yes, some

Could be some laudering or shady business by Netflix execs. Idk.
>>
>>215200230

A combination of super risk averse producers, and the fact that since Producers are no longer gods who can just own actors, Agents are now free to ship their stars to other projects inbetween.
>>
>>215200468
They can claim what they want, but I don't buy it. Much of the cost of a film is the actor salary, not actual nuts and bolts production. These kids are all under contracts.

They are definitely using it to cover up other money moving around.
>>
>>215200230
Unironically unions and strikes.
>>
>>215200151
They got the fluoride stare now.

Why don't they just remove Mike's gang from the show? Only 11, Joyce, and Hopper are good now.
>>
>>215200230
Not just that, but each season had 20-26 episodes. Nowadays it's 6-10 episodes.

Meh, I don't really care. She's still a good character. I'm hoping she's still a good actor too but you never know. Some of these motherfuckers lose their talent like Haley Joel Osment. I don't think he's the same guy honestly.

>What's the actual explanation for this shit
We (the consumers) allowed it. Plain and simple. We accepted it and, in the process, showrunners' egos swelled up and now they see themselves as movie directors. Along with that comes the arrogance and laziness that thinks they have no duty to viewers to create robust seasons at regular intervals. They think that's beneath them now. This will get worse. Six episode seasons are now starting to creep in, and no doubt we'll eventually get to about three episodes scattered half a decade apart. The only thing that will stop it is if people just refuse to accept it an tune out
>>
>>215200389
Insane jawline
>>
>>215200262
>Those series cost more than movies and have movie quality cinematography and lightining but need 4x the scenes to film.
They also only have about a movie worth of story (and that's being generous) tortuously stretched across the season. The whole thing is tv showrunner, who failed to be movie directors, trying to still be movie directors.
>>
>>215200151
Remember the MSPaint caricatures of that fucking toothless monkey kid in the middle?

Those were perfect. I never watched that show because even though I'm in my forties and the target demographic, I grew up and I think netflix is garbage. Never seen this shit.

>Let's make a show about kids, with kid actors, set in, and relying heavily on, a very specific time period. Now, let's make five seasons and take a decade to do it so they all look 40 years old and we can't possibly pretend it's the 1980s anymore.
>>
>>215200230
Yea, it's kinda crazy how fucked TV is in the streaming era.
Shows take 3 years to get 6-10 hour-long episodes, cartoons take 2-3 years to put out 20 11-minute episodes or 8 hour-long episodes that are ugly slideshows, anime is probably the one place where we still regularly get actual 24-episode seasons, but even that is much rarer than it used to be, and a lot of current anime is also made up of ugly slideshows.

I love these shows and these little nuggets. You know they're like my family right? My Netflix family. Like, Jenna Ortega and Emma Myers are just wonderful humans, talented and very good listeners (I talk to them in my dreams sometimes) and deserve all the love. If Emma dies young (hey, maybe she does, who knows?) what I'd say to her on her last IG post is "Say hello to Jesus for me, Em, say hello to Jesus for me". Pretty touching, right? Yeah I just came up with that.
>>
The only thing that could save the show is an all out steamy sex scene between Mike and Eleven
>>
>>215202661
Somebody should tell that deformed boneless fuck to cardiomaxx to at least have some semblance of a jawline. If he starts balding it's over.
>>
Season 5 is gonna be like a 5 year timeskip right?
Right?!
>>
>>215203261
Yes, there are two timeskips. One after 2 or 3 episodes and one on the epilogue.
>>
damn the finn wolfhard kid is already bald
>>
>>215200230
Whatever it is, it's not just netflix. It happens to videogames too, books, comics... Everything seems to take a lot longer to make only to be a lot worse.
I think the music industry is the only one that remains the same.
>>
>>215200732
they used to crank out 24 episode seasons of vampire diaries no problem, one a year, truckloads of filler writingwise but they'd bag the reels. granted the later seasons of stranger things have a higher budget look but YEARS for a fraction of the episodes come on bro someone give a real explanation

>>
>>215203313
Music industry is slower now too. Taylor Swift vomiting out albums constantly and bottlenecking the vinyl processing plants is why indie rock bands take 3 years an album cycle instead of 2.
