In a better world, Tron Legacy would have had the same success that Avatar did. Visually, Legacy is unparalleled.
>>215221772Well…
>>215221772lol
Don't forget Daft Punk doing the score. It was an audiovisual feast dragged down by a weak script.
>>215221819
>>215221772>Movie was slop when it came out>15 years laters its now amazingWhat the fuck is wrong with you people?
>>215221772I don't think it looked that good. All just CGI glowing neon looked like a Vidya with rtx
>>215221772>2010>Tron Legacy is dominating the box office>this after Iron Man 2 was largely panned>2011>Thor gets a 57% from audiences>Disney shelves Marvel long-term development>Refocuses on their new blockbuster IP>Tron Uprising gets a bigger budget>2012>Uprising is hugely popular>Disney passes on opportunity to buy Star WarsWhat might have been if Legacy was just a little better received.
>>215221772Shame about the script, but then again, Avatar's script is dull as well.
>>215222278>Avatar's script is dull as well.its not you're just an oversocialized dopemine addicted faggot
>>215222336Abatap, is that you?
>>215221819One of the first movies to do it and now so many movies utilize it. Ahead of its time.
>>215222375There’s a lot of visually impressive stuff in it but the digital face tech just wasn’t accomplished enough and they had so much of it
>>215221819at the time in theaters, it was unparalleled and looked good if not great
>>215222077Consider the following: what if it wasn't actually slop, and we're only now realizing it?>>215222336It's Pocahontas in space, which is not necessarily a bad thing
>>215222540I didn't even care about the uncanny factor because other than that fairly brief scene at the beginning it's used exclusively inside the computer world where that didn't feel out of place
>>215222077>400 million on a 170 million budget is a flopyeah OKAY retard let's also account for the fact that it's merchandise sold well
>>215222540Bits of it looked alright like the shot attached but other scenes such as the opening were considered rough and incredibly distracting even at the time
>>215222676well ackshually you know to break even it had to make a BILLION dollars
>>215222077The last fifteen years taught us what ACTUAL slop is
How is the 4k?
>>215222336Avatar is one of the worst variations of that story to ever hit the big screen.>>215221772>In a better world, Tron Legacy would have had the same success that Avatar did.The best case scenario for it was being the TGM of it's time. Sadly it was merely a moderate success.>>215222077>>Movie was slop when it came outWas it? It came out in the era of MCU/DCEU slop and early franchise/remake shit. It was far better than most of it's peers in that regards and holds up arguably the best of the big CG-heavy blockbusters from that time.
>>215223422>It came out in the era of MCU/DCEU slopIt came out in 2010. There had been 3 MCU films (the 3rd having also released in 2010) and the DCEU hadn’t started yet
>>215221772the finale is just kind of boring. The movie peaks at the games and light cycle. It just kind of goes on form there and doesn't feel to have real stakes. The action of the light planes is also just, meh. Needed more at the end.
>>215221772It's such a cool film franchise, bros...I liked Ares a lot. I will be seeing it a second time and buying a couple official t-shirts.
>>215222008And the MC has the charisma of a bag of bricks.
>>215222540Gollum was 8 years before this, it was laughable
>>215224336Greta Lee in Ares has more fucking charisma than Sam in Legacy.
>>215223422>Avatar is one of the worst variations of that story to ever hit the big screen.this is what butthurt haters actually believe
>>215224483>butthurt hatersAnyone who isn't a Jeet or thirdie is confounded by Avatar
>>215222540>at the time in theaters, it was unparalleled and looked good if not greatNo it didn't. If you saw it when it came out you'd know that the intro sequence with deaged Bridges in the real world was almost universally panned for looking terrible. People were brutal about it and were baffled that they went out of their way to show it in a closeup head on instead of hiding it and letting the uncanny nature work in the context of the story with Clu. Nobody would have complained if the intro was just the portion where he has his back to the camera and they cut the section at the door when he turns back. It's baffling that they'd do that.
>>215221772This movie is utter dogshit and Ares is better in every single way.
>>215222222Tron's stupid, they never should have made a sequel and the only reason anyone remembers the first movie is because of the video game. Nice digits though.
>>215222573>Consider the following: what if it wasn't actually slop, and we're only now realizing it?One of the last few cumtown episodes they mention when Avatar 1 came out they thought it was retarded that the mecha used its mecha hand to pick up a large knife from its mecha shoe rather than just having the sword built in to the arm and popping out when necessary. Then they said that with how shitty the modern world is, the further you can get from reality, the better.
>>215224560>confoundedESL? confounded means confused, not outraged or bored or disappointed. Why would I be confused by a derivative pocahantas ripoff?
>>215224636>confounded means confusedI meant what I said. Most Whites are confounded by Avatar being the most successful franchise in the history of film despite being incredibly derivative and utterly artless.
I just rewatched Tron: Legacy for the first time since it came out.God the music is so good, and they put a so much effort into the design of everything.Love jeff bridges, love quorra. Same is pretty good too.Love that all you see of the real world is some cool places (sams hideout, flynns arcade, giant skyscraper)Story is actually good and existent.
