Bond is completely dead right? We're never getting anyone close to pre-Craig films, especially not 1962-1989. The new game has James Bond as younger than 30, which I think is really off. There's a good chance it spills into the next films.
Yes and that's a good thingWe don't need endless fucking reboots or series that are continually beaten to death like BondThe context and spy genre is so entirely removed from the context that the original Bond was written in as well, the focus should be on making good shit not just continually rehashing old IP
>>215227786Bond has always reinvented in the most cravenly trend-riding way, which because of being a timeless even though shit brand-name, later actually comes to be though of as inventing that that thing. Like probably there's more people today who have seen Roger Moore doing kung-fu shit than remember those kung-fu 70s movies that bruce lee did that Bond was shamelessly trying to coat-tail ride. They even had a space battles bond when Star Wars was the thing. Recently it was MCU Bond trying to converge the "buildup movies" that were the previous entries like avengers endgame lmaoNow, it's not clear what the trend is with movies because movies are probably dying. Game based movies are doing big numbers but like, what are they going to do adapt the Goldeneye game back into a movie? Actually now that I think about it... kino
>>215227786Wait a minute, I'm staring at that poster thumbnail because it seems a little bit unusual and it finally hit me - what the fuck - he looks like henry cavill
A younger Bond means they can do a whole series of sequels without the guy getting too old.
>>215227805>the focus should be on making good shitLMAO the focus will be on making Bond even more of a numale pussy than they already have
>>215227786It was dead the moment they announced VilleneuveThe man literally could not make an exciting or fun movie if his life depended on it
>>215228362>A younger Bond means they can do a whole series of sequels without the guy getting too old.This. Without books/scripts written in advance, they either have to take extra time writing scripts from scratch or start shooting with shit-tier rushed scripts. Cast someone in their mid-to-late 30s and the action starts to become unbelievable.Everyone jumped up and down about how Daniel Craig was this youthful rejuvenation of the series but he was cast in his late 30s and by the time Skyfall came around he looked like a Ukrainian troll. Way more egregious than even Roger Moore in his final outings.
>>215227805They knew the spy era was over when they had Bond fighting the drug trade in License To Kill and that came out in 1989. One of the reasons Dalton is the best Bond is that his two films catch the end of the cold war and move on. Goldeneye is a legit good movie and had some relevance with the last gasp of the Russians as villains but all the rest of the Brosnan movies are generic Bourne wannabe movies because the spy era and cold war were dead and everything spy related had become computer hacking by nerds at that point. You can't keep making new Bond films because there is no place for him. Technology has caught up with his cool gadgets and the internet existing has replaced his job.
>>215228669>Bourne wannabe moviesAre you retarded?
>>215228669>One of the reasons Dalton is the best Bond is that his two films catch the end of the cold war and move on.His movies are dogshit precisely because they didn't know how to deal with the end of the Cold WarGoldeneye is great precisely because they deal with that post Cold War landscape, but yeah the series should've ended around then, the technology and real life spycraft completely changed. Also I think you're confused on the Bourne stuff, that started to creep into Bond with Craig, not Brosnan.
>>215228652NTA When I bring up young bond I mean in his 20s. It's just so wrong Bond being a 00 and doing the things he does being that young, like supposedly being a naval commander beforehand, or any of his charisma and charm working anywhere near as effectively. People talk about bringing in people like Tom Holland and others who are baby-faced to hell and back, it's so retarded. Bond looking old is a good thing and much more preferable than looking too young. Sean Connery always looked older than he was, Roger Moore looked younger than his age, but was still older nonetheless.I'd genuinely prefer a Bond actor pushing 60 before a young Bond on screen (I love A View To A Kill).
>>215228560>hit after hit after hit>no fun moviesok, breh
>>215228715>I love A View To A Killbased
>>215228560Yeah never getting fun Bond again.>>215228732Fun Villeneuve films?>>215228784Probably the best "bad" Bond film.
>>215227805This. See also:>Doctor Who>Star Wars>Star Trek>Stargate>Marvel>DC>All horror series (unless the dive into comedy)
>>215228810Fucking this, let it all dieI really want to see space-warrior-fantasy as a genre flourish but it's monopolised by faggot nu-wars stuff
>>215227786It needs to be a cold war period piece now. Bond doesn't make any sense at all in the modern world.
>>215228804dune, blade runner, sicario, prisoners.you're just a hater
>>215228890>dune, blade runner, sicario, prisoners>funilliterate nigger
>>215228669>Bourne wannabe moviesprofoundly imbecilic statement
>>215227786Austin Powers was the "words but a horse guy" joke that destroyed Bond.
>>215228953Make it make sense, huh?
>>215227786Nolan, Tom Cruise and Matthew Vaughn have regularly been doing what's closest to Bond movies, and their movies supercede whatever bond has been made
Bond every 3 years should be standard.
>>215227786That cocksuckin' piece of shit Barbara Broccoli's boyfriend - I can't even say his name - murdered James Bond. And what did I do about it?
>>215229600Ethan Hunt if he slept with more women in each movie, is the closest you'd get to an American James Bond.
anyone else think Layer Cake is Craigs best bond movie? They shouldve done all of them like that
They will never make a Bond like Tomorrow Never Dies ever again. It's always gotta have something that deconstructs what Bond is.No future Bond can be Another Solid Entry In The Series
Just take James Bond back to the cold war era and keep it there. All these gay crypto market super haxxor villains bore me to death.I just want some megalomaniac villain with a nuke or a fucking doomsday device or some shit, russian baddies with AKs and cool gadgets that isnt a smartclock.
>>215228285Wednesday cash in.
>>215227786I hope so. There's no point in bring the franchise back.Let it rest.
>>215228706No way, TLD and LTK are kino.>>215228652>Everyone jumped up and down about how Daniel Craig was this youthful rejuvenation of the series but he was cast in his late 30s and by the time Skyfall came around he looked like a Ukrainian troll. Way more egregious than even Roger Moore in his final outings.Craig REALLLY aged like shit. He was okay as a sort of meathead inexperienced Bond in Casino Royale, but by the time Skyfall rolled around he was 6 years older but looked like he was 16 years older.
I liked Casino Royale (2006) though.
>>215236289CR was definitely good, easily Craig's best movie. It's a little bloated in spots but I thought that it was a good way to do a more modern Bond while still keeping around some interesting gadgets (the CPR machine/anti-venom kit in the car). Craig's Bond actually seems like a unique character there instead of a diet-Dalton, and the supporting cast is memorable.
>>215232827This annoys me too. If I never have to hear another lecture about what an "outdated dinosaur" Bond is, it'll be too soon. It worked in Goldeneye since the Cold War was over and they had to prove that Bond wasn't outdated, but having him "prove he isn't outdated" in every movie gets old quick and makes the writers look insecure.
>>215228706The Living Daylights has two brilliant openings, him chasing someone down on Gibraltar and then the scene introducing the Bond girl when she fakes an assassination attempt. The Bond girl is cute as fuck. The theme song is amazing. The plot is fun. The East German hitman is cool and has a good motif. The car chase is great, as is them riding the cello case across the border.Yeah the final part of the film with the arms dealer is a bit tacked on/anti climatic, especially after the main bad guy got thrown out a plane. But still, it's a great film. The only reason people dislike Dalton is because of the huge gap between Dalton and Brosnan meant there was this urban legend that Dalton films were bad and that's why it happened, but in actuality the issue was a rights dispute which went to court and by the time it was over, they performatively asked Dalton to come back but by that time he had moved on. If Dalton had made a few more movies I think people would consider him a top Bond. Simple as.
>>215236486I also think both Quantum of Solace and Skyfall were great too. Quantum of Solace is weaker than CR and Skyfall, sure, but it works if you consider it a series and a midpoint between the two films. Haven't seen the rest of Craigs films but given of what I heard, they aren't worth watching. Skyfall ended satisfyingly enough anyway for me to consider it the real "end" of Craig.
>>215228732His Dune movies are green screen driven dogshit and they are popular because the average American is functionally illiterate. I would only give that French faggot a movie if I wanted to degrade an IP and D&D weren't available
>be daniel craig>be in the best bond movie of all time, yes the best. not just action slop. but a proper spy bond movie. >proceed to waste 10 years of your career cause writers and directors and producers don't know how to make any of the sequelsHe should kill the broccoli faggot with his bare hands.
the new bond will be a fat black woman, with a fat trans boss, and feminine fag friend>first movie: battling customer service department in france>second movie: breaking out of jail in france, and looting apple store in berlin, but encounters other monkeys. movie ends>third movie: picks up where monkey business left off, now in brazil, laying low, that until ebt isnt accepted. chaos ensues >fourth movie: falls in love, back england doing england things, that is until dispect ted in public. chaos ensues>fifth movie: all locked up, no way out, that is until girl boss sabes her>sixth movie: martin lawrence returns as big momma and co stars with this now aging bag of milk in a crossover movie. the movie is a hit>seventh movie: tyler perry rumored, but doesnt appear, martin lawrence does appear in beginning giving assignment to now american british mixed agent, promoting world peace. makes it out of japan alive. city leveled due to chimp out from Double O-nuh-uh-fuckthat >eight movie: final movie, they get tyler perry to show up as madea. the movie is a hitcan this be stopped??????
I watched all the James Bond films at the cinema, my local cinema had a James Bond season. I like all the films, every single one is enjoyable. I have my favourites and my least favourites, sure. I really hate people shitting on Craig or whatever. Especially culture wars shit. I think his last two films got weakened by behind the scenes production issues more than anything else. Keep that complaining bullshit out of Bond threads. I still have a full set of VHS tapes of Dr No to Tomorrow Never Dies with a picture built up over the spines. Used to watch them with my dad who passed away last year. Amazon are obviously going to fucking destroy this property and if I see even one spin off streaming show I'm going to go nuts.
>>215232827Tomorrow Never Dies is kino. It does the YOLT plot frame better than YOLT, and almost as good as TSWLM.>>215236151>>215236668Never trust a faggot who dislikes Dalton-Bond.>>215236670Weaker is an understatement, hard to think of many Bond films worse than it. >>215237821Liking James Bond films and hating Amazon because it is gonna fuck them up makes me a retard? Seriously? Are you retarded?
>>215237950You're so retarded you genuinely think the Amazon portion of your reply was what I called you a retard for. I'm calling you a retard for thinking culture wars shit isn't a contributing factor to why Bond died, and the last 2 films were some of the worst in the series, retard.
>>215238018>You're so retarded you genuinely think the Amazon portion of your reply was what I called you a retard for.Geez anon, I was taking the piss m8 because you're weren't being specific, I knew what you were upset about.Let me level with you: people who endlessly complain about Craig repeat the same falsehoods over and over again without anything new or interesting to say. The behind the scenes issues are more complicated than that but people reduce it down to bullshit YouTuber level. If people discussed it as only a contributing factor then that would be fine but instead it is considered the only factor and that's tiresome. It is the same endless kvetching is all. Of course you hyper focus and get mad at that point and don't seek clarification. I'd rather converse, spread some joy/fun in a Bond thread or take the piss out of Amazon. So yeah, you're just projecting. We could just move on and talk some Bond? Or we could go back through the merry-go-round.
>>215238257>people who endlessly complain about Craig repeat the same falsehoods over and over again without anything new or interesting to sayBeing new or interesting is the barometer for valid criticism? Use your brain.>The behind the scenes issues are more complicated than that but people reduce it down to bullshit YouTuber levelWhich doesn't invalidate criticism. Rushing in to use SPECTRE and Blofeld ruined the film itself and the prior and subsequent films through stupid MCU-style retconning.>If people discussed it as only a contributing factor then that would be fine but instead it is considered the only factor and that's tiresome. It's treated as the main factor, and rightfully so.>Of course you hyper focus and get mad at that point and don't seek clarification.>So yeah, you're just projecting.Retard
>>215238409>Being new or interesting is the barometer for valid criticism? Use your brain.Look at what you quoted and see how I mentioned repeating falsehoods. Use your brain, retard.>Which doesn't invalidate criticism. Rushing in to use SPECTRE and Blofeld ruined the film itself and the prior and subsequent films through stupid MCU-style retconning.I never said it invalidated criticism? Chasing MCU level franchise money is not the sort of complaint I was talking about. That isn't "culture wars". Use your brain, retard.>It's treated as the main factor, and rightfully so.Now you're just confusing multiple things. Use your brain, retard.Congratulations your retardation has killed the thread.
>>215238571Keep strawmanning me, and keep sucking, about to cum.
>>215227805Based.Current Hollywood is incapable of making a good bond movie anyway, no time to die and spectre were so bad, I'm still mad after all these years. Even when something suddenly starts good, line Kingsman or Wick, it immediately gets milked to death. Let bond rest in peace.
>>215227786>>215228715That's not what the movie was called
>>215227805Big evil supervillains feels a bit too superhero these days. Every other plot has been done. Going back to regional bad guys is difficult because they don't want to annoy countries. There isn't really anything left. Every other reinvention will just be a repeat of the past.
>>215238781>or WickI saw John Wick was doing a show called Continental. I thought to myself, oh cool, do an anthology about a different assassin each episode and maybe have a through line or overarching plot to connect some stories. Nah, it was a shitty prequel. And then Ballerina's budget was higher than the box office of the first John Wick movie. It's just franchise money laundering. A trilogy or something? Fine. Kingsman didn't even get killed for me, just killed instantly. Post first film it was awful. And that prequel was awful too. It had Lemon and Hitler meeting in an MCU style after credits scene.
