I admit I'm still seething about Jar Jar, even after all these years. And the reason I'm seething is because he brought Star Wars into disrepute. When I was growing up, Star Wars was still pretty cool, certainly cooler than Star Trek, and I didn't mind telling people I was a fan. But when Jar Jar arrived, Star Wars fandom became a shameful and taboo thing that you had to keep to yourself from now on.
