The Dirties, not a horror film but it's the only found footage movie I've seen that addresses the issue of 'why would anyone continue to film all of this.' in a way that makes logical sense
>>215243528I liked Troll Hunter. Poughkeepsie Tapes kept smelling its own farts. The only cool scene was when he came in on some Marilyn Manson shit. I know it kind of sucks but Megan is Missing is a fucker for me. It truly understands how to make an audience feel and then betray that. I have low-key PTSD from this movie.

>>215243528>As Above So BelowThis one was a lot of fun, but the finale was awkwardly paced.
>>215243539>V/H/SI think my issue for this was that I didn't expect it to be so stupid. Like going off the first segment I figured it was going to be themed along urban legends and myths recontextualized around modernity and late 90s, early 00s culture. That there'd be a continuous metanarrative type thing. So for the second segment that started in the Southwest with desert towns with old west styles and the fortune about not trusting people you'd think were your friends, I was sure we'd get some skinwalker type stuff. Especially because the couple was touring some rural areas and you'd often only see one of them while the other was off camera. Only for it to literally just be a chick breaking into their hotel room to kill the boyfriend and fuck the girlfriend without any real build up or satisfying twist.
>>215245363It is bigger, those are just the only good ones. There are a lot of bad found footage films. Why? Because they can be done on a low budget and horror films are usually bad, thus resulting in a gross fast food style of film production.

>>215243464I've recently been watching"Fake Documentary Q" on youtube, a Japanese found footage series (with english subs). It's actually really good! I'm midway through the series and there've been like 2 dud episodes, the rest have been genuinely creepy and well acted. Basically an anthology series, each ep focuses on a new "mysterious horror", but they're all in a connected universe and if you pay attention there's callbacks to other episodes.Premise is that it's a television show reporting on mysterious vids that have been sent to them. You have to read the comments (mostly japanese) after each ep in case you missed the actual scary stuff, as they don't make it overt often and some are "blink and you miss it" type of things.

>>215243464The blair witch was 100% a product of it's time and marketing. The movie itself is just 3 assholes walking around in the forest while nothing happens except running, screaming and arguments. It's barely even a movie, it doesn't have a plot or a story or anything really, it just goes nowhere and doesn't do anything. As above so below is better in every way
>>215243539>VHSFound out that they rebooted the franchise after 3 and released like 5 more movies between from 2021 up until now. >>215252858Is it believable that 3 assholes can run around in the forest for a few days while nothing actually happens? Sure, so what? >>215252558That is what makes it good. The problem with films like As Above So Below is why anyone would still be holding onto the fucking camera by the end. You're literally crossing through the Gates of Hell down there and you're still holding onto that fucking camera instead of carrying around a big rock or whatever? Blair Witch fits a lot better as far as why anyone would still be carrying a camera when the shit goes down. Films where the camera is used for night vision are the best for explaining why anyone would be carrying it even after they're scared shitless and running for their lives.
