I think my issue for this was that I didn't expect it to be so stupid.
Like going off the first segment I figured it was going to be themed along urban legends and myths recontextualized around modernity and late 90s, early 00s culture. That there'd be a continuous metanarrative type thing.
So for the second segment that started in the Southwest with desert towns with old west styles and the fortune about not trusting people you'd think were your friends, I was sure we'd get some skinwalker type stuff. Especially because the couple was touring some rural areas and you'd often only see one of them while the other was off camera. Only for it to literally just be a chick breaking into their hotel room to kill the boyfriend and fuck the girlfriend without any real build up or satisfying twist.

I've recently been watching"Fake Documentary Q" on youtube, a Japanese found footage series (with english subs). It's actually really good! I'm midway through the series and there've been like 2 dud episodes, the rest have been genuinely creepy and well acted.
Basically an anthology series, each ep focuses on a new "mysterious horror", but they're all in a connected universe and if you pay attention there's callbacks to other episodes.
Premise is that it's a television show reporting on mysterious vids that have been sent to them.
You have to read the comments (mostly japanese) after each ep in case you missed the actual scary stuff, as they don't make it overt often and some are "blink and you miss it" type of things.

You have to have an imagination to be scared of it as the scary part is basically the blanks your mind fills in, since not much is shown. It's got a sort of grounded believability to it. They really did do a legitimate improv thing with it too, it's good acting.
