my favoutires are the ones where there are two hoarders and one of them dies and the other refuses to bury them so the officials have to break in there and retrieve the body

My mom is a hoarder. Her house is a nightmare.

The top episode to end all episodes was the one where one lady hoarded cats to the degree that tons of them had horrible health problems and she had decomposing cat goo in her fridge, and the other lady had a poop bucket in her kitchen that she'd stir with a stick.

Unironically in this situation. It's like a level 3 of 5, no dead animals and I can walk around fine. What do I do?

no fuck that just throw it all away. "donating" is more fuel to the hoarder illness because it gives you an excuse to hold onto it so you can "donate" it later. just fucking trash it. put it outside with the word "free" on it and if no one takes it trash it. you have to realize the cubic volume of space it takes up is way more a waste than the things themselves. you're throwing away space.

If you didn’t make the hoard yourself then move out. If you are the source then you have mental health issues and you unironically aren’t going to make it and you’ll die in a horrible house fire that will probably also kill your neighbors and 1-2 firemen sent to put out your death trap.
>>215247374
this is the truth, nobody wants your garbage, fucking nobody.
>>
Why are they always dirty retards? Why aren't there any super clean organizational freak hoarders
>>
There was a great ep where an older guy was a psychologist who specialized in dealing with hoarding disorder and he himself became a hoarder. They legit used the same tactics he would have used to deal with a hoarder and he just blew them off. They got him to agree to clean his property up, but the text at the end said "he regretted doing it". People are fucking crazy.
>>
>>215248655
Fuck you. Books are not garbage. I want his books.
>>
>>215248672
because hoarding is actually just laziness, all the "i'll use it later" is cope.
people too lazy to clean their house even in that state are most likely too lazy and acclimated to clean themselves
>>
>>215248655
i didn't make it but the parent who did died.
>>
>>215248672
There are. They don't make for good television. There's a documentary on HBO called "Wide Awake", which shows this filmmaker's apartment in NYC which has floor to ceiling file cabinets and drawers filled with photos and film reels and audio, all meticulously organized and labeled.

They don't put those clean people on "Hoarders" trash reality shows.
>>
>>215248713
>because hoarding is actually just laziness
It's not. These people are mental patients and should be in a padded room.
>>
>>215248706
crusty decaying chocolate milk garbage juice stained books are garbage
>>
>>215248737
>They don't put those clean people on "Hoarders" trash reality shows.
Not true at all. They did a bunch of eps where the homeowners were "clean but cluttered". There was one that took place in a really nice San Francisco house (like from Full House) and the house was a cluttered mess and you couldn't move, but it was "clean" in that there was no dust, grime, pet shit, etc.
>>
>>215248744
It's just dust and dog hair bro. Calm down.
>>
>>215248741
Depends on the person. Of course someone like you sees everything in a very simple, black and white context.
>>
>>215248719
how many square foot of shit are you dealing with?
>>
>>215248744
Books that filthy were never boxed up to donate. You're just a troll who wants to argue. You don't have a point.
>>
>>215248765
>Of course someone like you sees everything in a very simple, black and white context.
No, that's you retard
>person doesn't want to throw out garbage = lazy
These people are clearly past the point of no return. Their kids know it too. Fucking faggot.
>>
>>215248737
At that point it’s just archiving
>>
We allow rich people to hoard money, land, cars. We allow "collectors" to hoard funkopops and other "collectibles". Yet we don't allow people to hoard stuff in their own home?

The issue is poverty. Cleanliness too, but that's because of poverty. If the hoarders were rich they'd be collecting shoes and have them displayed on walls like I see rappers and NBA players have. But since the "hoarders" are poor we treat them as if they were ill and mentally challenged.
>>
>>215245878
I often sometimes feel weird about my digital hoarding habits. I feel like I use the same excuses just worded differently.
Just like a hoarder that "collects" things that may or may not have value at a later time or collecting things that had value before and you think you keeping it is so that others can treasure it.
I "archive" movies, shows, documents, music, etc. The difference is it's all contained in a media server with fail-safes for hard drive failure and easy maintenance, which really does not take much space at all. The problem really, it's a waste of my time and archiving all these pieces of media is likely a waste of time because no one will have enough time to consume everything I saved.
And just like a hoarder, I could not fathom deleting everything. I lost my phone that I had for 4 years that I never made a back up of and I was legitimately depressed and wanted to die for a good month.
I have an unhealthy relationship with data, I think at least.
>>
>>215248810
The problem with the hoarders is that they don't take the time to organize and use their treasures to beautify their home.
I don't care if these hoarders are hoarding literal trash. You can still organize and clean said trash and wrappers or whatever the hell and even display it in a way that doesn't impede livability.
Instead, they opt to live in piles of junk and don't care about how it looks.
>>
>>215248776
>ugh you filthy troll, i want those books
holy fuck you don’t need 7 copies of the god delusion you fucking redditor
>>
>>215248860
lol NTA and that's not one but the closest is Enlightenment Now by Steven Pinker. There's some DFW in there too.
>>
>>215248810
thats a lot of words to say how much of a faggot you are, they are mentally ill and it happens to plenty of rich people too
>>
>>215249112
I'd watch a show where they break into rich people's houses and take their stuff.
>*Boom!* *crack* *peeeel*
>door of the garage is busted open
>"Oh god! That's fucking gross. This guy has like 150 cars in here."
>*breakdown the house door*
>"He has 10 rooms and 11 bathrooms! What a sick fuck, what does he need 11 bathrooms for?"
>*window breaks* they peer into the bedroom
>"I'm gonna be sick. They have a walk-in closet packed with hundreds, if not thousands of shoes."
>*presenter is dry heaving on the driveway*
>"We're gonna need backup. I mean, I heard it was bad, I never could have imagined it'd be THIS bad."
>>
I have a bunch of books, comics, vidya games, vinyls, cassettes, CDs, but they're all organized and clean. I keep thinking of selling them but just the thought itself makes me sad, maybe I have the same problem as these people. I mean, I've already digitized the majority of what I own so what's the point of having it right?
>>
>>215249281
theres a difference between collecting something and hoarding it and the difference is usually losing control
>>
>>215245878
Its because 99% of all that is trash, anony. You never see then hoard rare stuff that can be valuable in the future. The only show that shows that off is Pawn Stars.
>>215248821
Nah, your work is appreciated, even if you don't share it, anon.
Just so you know, the elite's agenda is still getting rid of physical cash, media, gold and silver, and even some electronics like modems because "muh environment". So make sure to curate all you have and make it EMP-proof.
>>
>>215249365
Also the "shows that off" I meant the rare stuff, not the hoarding. Although anon's idea here >>215249209 is pretty funny.
>>
>>215248672
I would classify Adam Savage as that kind of guy.

A guy I worked with was just arrested for having 102 animals on his property, all malnourished and needing aid, and there were 22 animal corpses there as well.
Apparently he did this in 2022 as well with 50 large dogs and 40 birds, but when he was caught he received no jail time. Now he's looking at federal charges. Good. Always knew something was wrong with him, but now I'm sad for the animals.

Details are a bit hazy as this is all pretty fresh and ongoing. Please donate to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter if you anons have some cash (they're not properly equipped to deal with this massive influx, but they're all the animals have) or if you live in the area, maybe take one of the animals when the shelter nurses them back to proper health in the next few months. He had dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, and a goat.

I dated a girl named cheyenne once, broke up with her because she was annoying and always whining about being depressed, so no fuck that.
>>
you vill hoard nothing and you vill be happy
>>
>>215248810
Be real. You'll never use the three completely rusted cars and a half broken bathtub on your property for anything. Most of that shit is just fire and environmental hazard. You'll even get more space to store useful stuff when you get rid of them.
>>
Have a close friend who's a borderline hoarder. His living room table has a 3 foot high pile of video games controllers/wires/comic books/electronics with two small spaces cleared so he and his guest has somewhere to put their coffee cup. Piles of stuff on the floor of the living room, kitchen has a mountain of cardboard, milk cartons and various pizza boxes etc.
And everything is covered in dust. But at least there isn't rotting food out, so I can still visit. Apparently his whole family is like this.
>>
>>215251237
Had one friend family too. 4 of the 5 sibling ended up kinda normal, the mother and one brother have some kind of mental problems but I just don't know what it is. It might be extreme depression which you don't show to other people. Don't let your friend hang himself anon although I guess hoarders rarely do it.
