Do you ever find yourself watching TV/film and see them say something so dumb, it makes you realise the writers are doing 0 reaserch?
Do you give up on the whole show at that point?
Pic related, episode 2 of millennium, yeah I think I've seen enough.

Media (or just influencers in general) are constantly saying dumb shit, but each one of us only has so many specialties and expertise and so we don't catch it. Like the computer nerd sees shit all the time that bothers him, but doesn't notice stuff a martial arts guy is always seeing. They both have to put their heads together.

where can i watch millennium now

I turn off any media that mentions shredinger's cat. Already dropped Shameless and Dark Matter

>The term "Gehenna" in Hebrew is גֵּיא בֶן־הִנֹּם (Gēʾ ḇen-Hīnnōm), meaning "Valley of the son of Hinnom," or גֵי־הִנֹּם (Gē-Hīnnōm), "Valley of Hinnom." In Mishnaic Hebrew and Judeo-Aramaic languages, this name was contracted to Gēhīnnōm (גֵיהִינֹּם) or Gēhīnnām (גֵיהִינָּם), which came to mean "hell."
>The oldest historical reference to the "Valley of the Son of Hinnom" is found in the Book of Joshua, describing tribal boundaries. During the late First Temple period, it was the site of the Tophet, where some kings of Judah, such as Ahaz and Manasseh, sacrificed their children by fire to the god Molech.
Huh.

In alien, when John hurt starts choking someone screams he is going to swallow his tongue and he is having a seizure. They then try to put a spoon in between his teeth. I can't imagine how many people have had dental damage because they heard that is what you are supposed to do. You are supposed to lay them down in a recovery position and let the seizure happen without restraining them.

>by fire to the god Molech.
Another historical misconception.

>which came to mean "hell."
No it didn't that's the thing.
It "came to mean" hell only in later Christian interpretation of texts mentioning the word, it never came to mean hell in the living arameic language.
The confusion only arsoe due to greek speaking Christians finding jesus making a reference to people being tossed into smouldering Gehenna, and since they lived in Greece, Anatolia and so on they didn't know this random valley outside Jerusalem so they went "must've been another word for Hades idk" and conflated the two.
Whenever there is a reference to Gehenna prior to this confusion by outside observers, they mean the place Gehenna. Like when someone says "you will end up tossed into Gehenna" they literally mean you (your corpse) will be dumped into that valley outside city limits, because it was known to be a dump where people threw garbage and bodies of people nobody cared to bury, or bodies of criminals and scum who didn't deserve a proper burial.

My favourite one is in one of the transformers movies, the one with Mark Wahlberg, where they give pedophiles loopholes to get around age of consent laws in southern states.
I wonder how many rapes happen because of that scene.

In true detective someone gets stabbed and they pull it even though any law enforcement would be trained to know that would lead to excess bleeding and death. John wick kinda brings it up but also uses movie logic about stabbings.

Imagine if I wrote a song about West Virginia, then 200+ years later my song becomes very popular in Greece, and when Greeks translate the lyrics, they can make out every other word with a dictionary, but they can't figure out "Virginia", some guy comes up with the idea that it means virgin. West Virginia = virgin land of the west, ah, I must be talking about the Oregon Trail. Everyone in America understands what I mean by "West Virginia", right up until America gets nuked by the Chinese and American English stops being a living language, but the Greeks have their own interpretation and there is nobody alive to correct them now. 1000 years later, all the English copies of my song have long disappeared, but we still have greek translations. We translate the greek translations into the language we both speak, is it really fair to say that "Weat Virginia is a term that came to mean Oregon"? Is it really fair to translate it as "Oregon", when the author meant something entirely different?

This is a pretty good analogy anon. I'm going to use it.

Actually I came up with a better one
Imagine the song becomes popular in an Arab country and they translate "Virginia" as "heaven" because clearly, I was making a reference to the 72 virgins.
But thanks, I tried :3

>>215255576
no you nailed it the first time cause that's pretty much exactly what happened to the Bible
>>
Sounds like jews just don't want to admit they were burning children alive

Sucks to be you. I'm basically retarded, so everything sticks. Every show is awesome. Totally bonkers premise? Great.
