ITT: Villains that were right
PRAG 4 LIFE
>>215258875It's the other way around, he was the hero of the story but wrong
Are musicians the faggiest people on earth?? Most modern music is pathetic and low IQ people treat them like gods
>>215258875In the film he's unquestionably right. I'm beginning to think he was right in the book too.
>>215258875He was a douchebag but if you really care about your craft and want it to be perfect you need people like this.
IF YOU WANNA PLAY DRUMS YOU NEED TO HAVE THINGS THROWN AT YOU
>>215258875Griffith
>>215259255nah its people who vote for party politics
>>215258875I watched Full Metal Jacket and didn't realize Hartman was supposed to be the antagonist until I read reviews of the movie afterward. He seemed like a hard but well-meaning instructor to me. The Whiplash guy on the other hand, was just some prick. I'm impressed by both JK Simmons and whoever was involved in creating his character for making me hate a fictional entity so much. What a little bitch boy.
>>215258875>Are musicians the faggiest people on earth??No. That would be actors.
>>215260101Your initial impression of Hartmann was spot-on. He's only viewed as the antagonist because today's broken modern people relate too strongly with the infantile, psychologically crippled individual who lacks an identity that Private Pyle represented, instead of Gunny, the mature, responsible, parental - though abusive - authoritarian trying to do the job he's been hired to do.It's hippie bullshit and it's always been hippie bullshit. It's why the entire first half of the movie blows the second half out of the water.
Did not do a single thing wrong in the entire movie

The reason JK Simmons is such an absolute asshole here is because he has perfect (absolute) sense of tempo - which is kind of like perfect pitch, but more rare. And he demands Neeman, or whatever his name is, to be able to basically develop it on the spot and hear what hr hears. It's actually even more difficult to do while you yourself are playing and not merely just listening. But he judt can't help hearing the wrong tempo and getting pissed when someone plays it wrong. It's kind of like if someone uses a linter/formatter to format code they wrote and I look at it and I literally see that soulless disgusting formatting and complete lack of any kind of passion for writing code, I just can't stand it bros.
>>215261726This kind of hyperprecise timing doesn't exist in jazz btw. There are no rules like this at all.
>>215258875Fuck off. Nobody listens to jazz and nobody's heard of a jazz drummer.
>>215261111well what did he have against italian potpourri? all it does is add fragrance to a room
>>215258875>says the captain is schizo>is proven to be rightnooo you are ackchually le the evil asshole t: (((lawyer)))
>>215260101It didn't occur to me either. Pyle was without a doubt dragging the team down and he didn't give a shit, then they bully him once and suddenly he's a full-fledged lunatic? Ridiculous.
>>215258875Billy Zane in Titanic.
>>215262049That's the point. He wanted him to play the way he heard it, with precisely the tempo he heard. There's no rule, it was his own preference which he thought was important to the performance.
>>215258875>>215259183>hey prag come polish my bootshow do you respond?
>>215262529So he was completely and utterly in the wrong, good to know.
>>215261726Isnt the point of the movie that neeman was a great drummer and was perfect the whole time but Simmons just wants to create an even more perfect drummer by pretending he's shit and driving him with hate.Is this bait?
