stop motion is the most kino form of cinema
more like slop motion ahahahah but seriously i dont particularly have a strong opinion either way
Fantastic Mr. Fox mogs the rest really hard
>>215259604I saw Corpse Bride in theaters
Berk? Berk?! Berk!
>>215259604>kino form of cinemaThat's the same thing twice, dipshit. Kino means Cinema.
>>215259604Stop motion certainly seems best for horror, especially horror aimed at a younger or family audience.Except Evil Dead of course.
Was it good or shit?
why'd you choose all this stuff instead of Gumby
>>215259813Coming, your sliminess!
>>215259604Paranorman was such shit. I remember being excited to see it as a kid and it was just a bog-standard children's movie. Even the character designs were underwhelming. Frankenweenie isn't great, but it does the same thing a lot better.
>>215259991based gumby appreciator
>>215259604Mrs. Fox
>>215259604Diggin' those posters, they have great composition and color choice (good contrast, colors of what the creators want you to see pop out), no overcluttering with useless bullshit, just concise and to the point, you can tell what the movie is gonna be about at a glance
>>215259754>mogging coralineNot a chance nigga, Coraline chads rise up!
>>215259604true
Stop motion anything, particularly Coraline in my opinion, are reaction image GOLD MINES. You can pause any frame of Coraline with a character in it and snip out a reaction. Every, fucking, frame...its baffling.
>>215259604Fantastic Mr Fox is the best movie ever made and it's a movie I'd shamefully pog over a sequel.
>>215259853kino means PEAK CINEMA, dipshit. not just "cinema"
>>215260365nah niggaFantastic Mr. Fox is comfy kino
>>215259604I kind of like the theory that the kid from Frankenweenie grew up to be the guy from Corpse Bride, then became Jack after he died and eventually forgot who he was when he was alive. No one else in my life understood why Fantastic Mr. Fox was so hilarious and meaningful at the same time, but it's one of my favorite stop-motion movies. I tried explaining the ending to someone who just thought it was absurdist humor and they kind of dismissed me and seemed less I tested in the conversation lol
>>215260672Poor Ash is cursed with being a mega autist who's not self aware and wants to be a normie athlete gf-haver
>>215260716Interested** typo fix
>>215260057i love Art Clokeys work, one of the greatest surreal storytellers of his time
>>215260716>absurdistDo you mean the credits dance sequence or when the wolf raises its fist to Mr Fox? Ouch if the latter. For a while every animated movie had to end with a dance sequence, but i do like the little detail that Ash is drinking a different kind of juice than everyone else because he's "different"
>>215260602this with maximum sincerity
>>215260672What's so great about Mr Fox anyway, I like the animation and direction but whatever the story was about really did not stick with me, something about the fox family being evicted from their hole-in-the-ground home. People love this movie but I don't see the appeal personally, didn't resonate emotionally
>>215259604yes, but not because of any of the slop you posted. go watch some Quay brothers, Trnka, Svankmajer, Barta, etc.
i guess we are posting our favourite stop motions things now. this one i discovered thanks to someone who made a thread about it here back when it came out
>>215259604Where's Anomalisa?
>>215260862Personally I hated it, and from there I realised I hated all of Wes Andersons work.
>>215260774It was the latter. They didn't get the seasons metaphor and said they didn't think comparing stages of life to seasons was something people do. Part of me thinks they were just trying to shut me down because they didn't get it before I said something.Yeah, lol, that was great. This makes me want to watch the movie again
>>215261024in the garbage where it belongs
>>215260862Mr. Fox spent the whole movie in a mid-life crisis, trying to reclaim his lost youth. Time was taking his youth from him, and that guy was taking his home, so he was trying to relive his youth and freedom while trying to save the place he was raising his family in. At the end he comes to terms with his age and the direction his life took (settling down and having a kid he didn't really connect with because before he wasn't trying)
>>215261144But not Frankenweenie?
>>215260645Incorrect.
>>215260862There's two types of Fantastic Mr Fox watchers: people relating to Mr. Fox, and people relating to Ash.
>>215259604Based
>>215261537Švankmajer? OP's pic is unrelated, but Jan is where it's at.>>215259604

>>215261512which one are you anon
>>215259604isle of dogs sucked so goddamn hard. Fantastic Mr.Fox was great, then Isle of dogs gets shit out with its headache inducing overcast skies, mumbling cast and basic plot. Isle of dogs needs to be put-down
>>215259885this movie got retarded really fast. It should've been a fun pirate adventure instead it turns into a boring soulless secular lecture.
>>215260118“If what I think is happening is happening, it better not be.”10/10 script, they don’t make them like that anymore.
>>215262513Ash, I'm not old/experienced enough to identify with Mr Fox yet

Paranorman is so underrated. I guess all stop motions are except The Nightmare Before Christmas. (Not that it's bad, just actually appreciated by masses)
>new Paranorman animated short>it's CGIWhat the actual fuck are they thinking
you now remember this 'ino
>>215259604>g, particularly Coraline in my opinion, are reaction image GOLD MINES. You can pause any frame of Coraline with a character in it and snip out a reaction. Every, fucking, frame...its baffling. Most of those are pretty cool, but Kubo is a big heap of stinking garbage. It's the kind of movie you only get to make if your father is a massive billionaire and everyone around you, their whole livelihood and future is entirely dependent on remaining in your good graces.
anybody got some horror recs besides the big ones (Coraline, Nightmare before Christmas, etc) and Svankmejer? i guess i'll check out the Quay Brothers
