Is this worth watching? 3 hours is a significant commitment.
>>
"NO!"

Watch Eddington instead.
>>
>>215267916
I wouldn’t watch it again but I don’t regret watching it.
>>
First 90min: pure kino
Second 90min: the most excruciating thing you will ever watch
>>

nah it's shit

the timing of horror and comedy are identical. ari aster solved this with The Strange Thing About the Johnsons

Does the first half stand on its own? Can I decide on whether to watch the second half when I reach that point, or will I sunk cost fallacy my into disappointment?

I'll download Eddington. It has a lot of 1 star reviews though

One of my favorite movies. I didn't like Hereditary or Midsommar, though so I feel like people who like those movies don't like Beau is Afraid and vice versa.

Is this movie woke? The cast looks 100% diverse.
>>
>>215268174
Midsommer was the best film I re-watched this year. Eddington was the worst film I saw this year. Absolute annoying garbage.

a mile wide but an inch deep
scrawny jew director feels emasculated by his mother, there I saved you 3 hours

Nah, You'll get legit pissed at the ending i think
>>
>>215268013
I have a normie colleague who's into "film twt" and when talking to him abouth both Beau and Eddington, he seemed to completely ignore how funny both movies are.
I really don't understand how people can be this stupid concerning their supposed main hobby, I don't even consider myself a "cinephile" or whatever, I don't think i've seen more than 2k, maybe not even 1k, movies in my life.
>>
>>215268416
That is a fucking ton of movies.
>>
>>215268341
>>215268388
I've watched lots of tv and film, and my understanding is most media is made by jews and most jews have overbearing mothers. Shouldn't this movie be very relatable to everyone who was raised by tv?
>>
>>215268400
yes
>>
>>215268462
I'm 34, 2k movies means watching two movies a week since my mid-teens, doesn't seem like a lot to me, 1000 movies even less. Again, I probably didn't watch one movie a week since my mid-teens, but me and my friends used to watch like, 4 shlocky horror movies we'd rent a day, not to mention all the shit in cable, stuff i rented myself, open tv reruns and so on. However, I'm not sure I count a lot of these movies that I just caught by accident or watched because my buddy rented it as "watching a movie", for whatever reason, and by that measure I'd say I'm far below one thousand.
Who gives a fuck anyway, I just think that if you fancy yourself a connoisseur, spending 2-5 hours A WEEK with your hobby isn't much. I play like 2-3 hours of guitar almost everyday and I barely consider myself a student, let alone a musician.
>>
>>215268664
If you played guitar 2-3 hours everyday since your mid teens you should be more than a student. Same holds.
>>
>>215268174
it filtered normies
>>
>>215268307
its a short film about a son who rapes his dad
>>
>>215268709
well I start, stop and go back since childhood so I guess I'm more of a cinephile than a guitar student.
At least on this last stretch I've been sticking to it for a while and now I can kind of play solos, but I'm still terrible and I mostly enjoy simple 60s music.
>>
>>215268174
Why does this feel like a sign of kino?
>>
>>215268820
Is this true for any other kino?
>>
>>215267916
>>215267968
The first half is some of my favorite movie scenes from the last couple years.
>>
>>215268325
What was annoying about eddington?
>>
>>215269067
I dunno, maybe the purposefully divisive politics that the whole movie is based around
>>
>>215269092
bro take fucking look around, that is kind of reality. If anything I think it shows that regardless of political affiliations, everyone became insane after covid. If anything, I think that there's one real point this movie makes, which is that the internet and big data centers and all this shit is obviously if not behind, at least the main money maker behind everyone gets insane, and I feel like this is one thing that people of every inclination agrees with, in their own insane and alienated way. If you tell me you've never met anyone who resembles any of the characters of the movie, you either live in a monastery, amish town or you're too insane to realize you're one of them yourself.

>>
>>215269171
nta but that does not a good movie make. it was fucking excruciating to watch. Any political messages aside, it was watching annoying faggots being annoying faggots for 3 hours
>>
>>215267916
The first part is pretty entertaining, then it just goes so far up its own head it comes back out its arsehole.

Just your typical "wish i was Kafka" surreal, neurotic jewish crap with nothing to say except "my life sucks in an incredibly specific way so noone can even relate so why are you watching this?".
>>
>>215269171
don't get me wrong I actually liked the movie a lot more than I thought I was going to. director should go back to horror though
>>
>>215269223
well man idk what to tell you i don't think every movie should be a pleasant joy ride, it being excruciating is a huge part of why i liked it so much.
>>215269266
if true detective s1 is "cosmical horror" then this is too. Like, the one director I keep thinking of whenever I think about it is John Carpenter
>>
>>215267916
If it doesn't appeal to you from the outset it won't win you over. If you like Todd Solondz or Charlie Kaufman movies it's probably up your alley.
>>
>>215269319
>jew genocides trillions of goys by making surreal bullshit film
>gets away with it 100%, never suffers any consequences
>live to a tender old age and passes peacefully in bed surrounded by wealth and power like Kissinger and co.
>meanwhile, thousands of palestinians die screaming daily
where is allah?
>>
>>215269439
>thousands of palestinians die screaming daily
You know I had been worried about the hazard of AI in future politics but I'm starting to think it won't matter. You retards have propagandized yourselves pretty thoroughly. Not sure the epistemic regime can collapse anymore than it has.
>>
>>215269533
Nick Fuentez and Hasan told me 40,000 palestinian babies are dying a day
>>
>>215269553
nothing he said is wrong, they are screaming by the thousands and no consequences will come to the director of this film
>>
>>215267916
Yes, Ari Aster is a kino maker.
If you ever felt paranoid it will feel very relatable.
It's a surrealist film about a man who went insane because of his BPD mother.
It filtered a lot of people on /tv/.
>>
I've got "Palestinians die screaming" filtered by 4chanX, but I noticed there's a guy in the $5 milkshake thread talking about how cheap it is in Israel where he lives, so I'm assuming from now on that that's the same guy

>>215269223
If you want a feel good movie watch Shawshank. Movies are allowed to fill you with anxiety or be annoying. In this case that's really not a stain on the quality but a testament to it. You were watching people be annoying faggots then because they were actually acting that way then and you were probably one of them if you didn't notice or weren't filled with a lingering sense of it all these years.
>>
>>215269636
Sounds like you were drunk. Whatever else the movie might be, it's not forgettable.
>>
>>215269571
>they are screaming by the thousands
Is that different from dying by the thousands or...?
>>
This movie is way too over the top. There's so much going on that I only have one question. Why? Is it really that hard to just make The Big Lebowski 2? Wait. There's always some kind of crap going on there too.
>>
>>215267916
It's one act too long. I just don't know what act to cut.
>>
>>215267916
I feel asleep and missed the ending but the song Shine was pretty funny
>>
>>215269765
I would just shorten the woods act, get to the part with him hugging his sons quicker
>>
>>215269607
>>215269624
>paranoia and fear over mythical trolls
meds.
anyway, what consequences will Ari Aster suffer for making this film? He's gonna stay rich and get away with everything. Meanwhile, palestinians are continuing to die in large numbers. Nothing that was said in the previous post has been wrong.
>>
>>215269729
its "the big lebowski" except from the perspective of a legitimate schizophrenic.
>>
>>215267916
The first 15 minutes are jewschizo kino.
>>
>>215269825
The point of that segment was to lull you into a relaxed state where you forget that that isn't the reality of the movie, like in F for Fake or 1408. That doesn't usually work on me, but I got what they were doing.
>>
>>215269836
>palestinians are continuing to die
Yeah, to Hamas which is executing them in the street for all of us to watch on Twitter. Do you not follow the news?
>>
>>215269836
I got serious Gaza fatigue. So sick of hearing the sob stories.
They shouldn't have fucked around on Oct 7. They could have released the hostages at any time. It's not even that bad, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, less than 100 people have been killed per day since this started. That's not very significant.

Lots of buildings were wrecked, but I'm not going to cry over peoples damaged property.
>>
>>215269855
Except in Lebowski basically nothing is happening, and in Beau the conspiracy is actually real and the whole world's in on it
>>
>>215269910

Yeah I was druk but 95% of the time that’s a kino enhancer. Maybe Ari Aster isn’t always my cup of tea.
At least Todd Solondz or Charlie Kaufman make me laugh.
>>
Just marathoned it. I agree with the anon that says it feels like its an act too long.
Should have shortened or cut a lot of shots that were there for atmosphere. Like when he arrives at his moms house, they spend 8 minutes (!) walking in and touring the house mostly looking at stuff related to his moms businesses.

I only liked the first part where it shows the state of the world before all the 'misadventures' happen.
The scene where his apartment gets invaded is probably one of my favorite depictions of anxiety in cinematic history.
