I'm watching DBZ again for the first time since I was kid and... holy shit... I think it's just as incredible as I remember it being. The way it builds up tension, and the Namek saga is so tightly written. Really good cat and mouse adventure with Gohan and Krillen vs. Vegeta and vs. Frieza's forces.I'm actually surprised this was ever a kid's show too. You see so many Namekians get brutalized. It's insane. But I guess back then our society wasn't so babied.
If it's still dubbed, you're still watching it wrong. Masako Nozawa is Goku. Ryo Horikawa is Vegeta. Kikuchi's music IS DBZ. Watching DBZ without those and many other elements is not watching DBZ at all.

The writing after namek wasn't very good. Super saiyans were a dead end that had to be continuously milked. The stories and fights had a lot more nuance before it was introduced.They also messed up the fundamental order of the sagas. Cell saga should have been worked to be the last one.
