For me, it was The Italian Bob.

Classical Simpsons? I would say around season 7, although you still might find one or another episode worth watching in season 8, like the one where The Simpsons move to another city.

I would say seasons 8 to 12 are watchable, like, bad but still watchable. But after that, it really went downhill.

It just faded away as I stopped caring about TV as much. There was no deciding factor. Nothing wrong with the show, it's consistently clever. It's just lost its heart over time. The first decade was gold though.

It's like Ship of Theseus, where at season's end, they swapped a piece of the ship with literal horse feces.

Elf jockeys episode
Screaming caterpillar episode
Teen Homer finds a dead body episode
Panda rape episode
Tony Hawk episode
Motorbikes duel episode
Dead alligator episode

Talking about the episode that made people stop watching the Simpsons, these always come up.

Season 10 Episode 5
Probably should've I'm guessing
>>
There are no good episodes after Trilogy of Error.
>>
>>215316856
When Phil Hartman died.
>>
>>215316856
the show hit its cultural peak at s11e05
everything was downhill after that
>>
Another classic Baskin Roberts move. I love Sethyposting (as it is kino)
>>

You're out of your fucking mind. Literally half of Season 8 episodes are classics, it's one of the better golden age seasons.
>>
>>215317285
You're a retard.
>>215317204
This. Purely fucking rockerts.

I recently watched every season starting from S1. There were some bad episodes here and there but Kill the Alligator and Run (S11E19) was the first one that I absolutely couldnt stomach. It felt like they were trying yo do the Family Guy formula with tons of wacky jokes unrelated to the plot.

You are the retardest if you think seasons 1-4 are great but not season 8.
>>
>>215316856
I honestly stopped watching it when Skinner was revealed to be Armin Tanzarian. I know that episode is now cited as the show's jump the shark moment but I think people who grew up watching it were tired of it by then as well.

The episode where Bart failed to catch a ball in a baseball game and the entire town starts harassing him, even going as far as to encourage him to commit suicide. Such a gross and mean episode that deserves more hate than any other episode.

Also
>Bob was just casually wearing his prison jumpers under his clothes
I shouldn’t expect much from modern sneedsons but this was so fucking retarded
>>
>>215318355
Objectively good episode.

>>215316957
>Panda rape episode
trying to slip a 10/10 late era masterpiece in with the bad ones
nice try, anon
>>
when it stopped being the early 90s
>>
"mmm, this show is not what it used to be": Shary Bobbins episode
"man, this show is really starting to suck": Kim Basinger & Alec Baldwin episode
"ugh, I think this show is irredeemable at this point": elf jockeys episode
>>
>>215319283
I think people are so against the premise that they can't see that every individual part of the episode is good. It's a Bill & Josh era episode written by Ken Keeler. Of course it's good.
>>
>>215319361
Which is also stupid since it's not different from the Beatles episode that they had already done half a decade earlier (and which nerds hated at the time).
>>
>>215316898
Season 8 is mostly good, Sideshow Bob and his brother episode is excellent. It's ALL much better than what comes after. As the other anon said, you're out of your mind.
>>
>>215317285
You can 100% start to see the cracks forming by season 8.
>>
>>215319283
it's hated by many fans because it shits on a beloved character's back story just because they couldn't come up with better ideas, but by itself it's not a bad episode.
>>
>>215317032
Damn, this is really the correct answer. Phil Hartman was the tits.
>>
>>215319414
"Cracks forming" = one or two weaker episodes that could be from s9/s10. Still has a ton of absolute classic episodes like Homer's Enemy, Springfield Files etc.
>>
>>215319361
I stopped watching around the same time as most people, season 10-11ish as a kid. As an adult I turned on the TV one time and it was the Armin Tanzarian episode and it felt like a fever dream. Every bit of it felt like classic Simpsons, but I couldn't remember any of it happening. It was a late afternoon, sun seeping through the window and the whole experience had this surreal quality to it. Anyways yes, good individual episode with dumb premise.
>>
why haven't they brought any of the good writers back?
>>
>>215319361
They could've avoided backlash by obviously stating that the episode is not canon, like in Springfield Files. Which is pretty ironic since Springfield Files actually had plausible, canon-friendly ending
>>
>>215319539
The old good writers are not with "it" anymore.

can they please kill the show already, then
>>
The elf jockeys episode was when it hit me the show was now bad That was season 11 but momentum and cope kept me watching a while. I dropped it once and for all in season 16 in 2005. I think the episode was mocking Mel Gibson who I remembered had a good guest star episode and thought it was in poor taste to shit on someone who formerly provided a good episode.
>>
>>215319645
And there was another point in season 13 where Homer and Bart are tethered together which was around when I began openly saying the show was bad and wouldn't return. But still another 2-3 seasons before I stopped watching once and for all.
>>
>>215319460
the only thing from season 8 that I don't like is the variety show segment from the spin-off showcase
and that's them parodying something bad, and not elevating it into something good like the other two segments.
I still don't like it, but I could chalk it up as a failed experiment
I think s8 gets criticized for some of the episodes near the end, which are perfectly fine episodes but forgettable. I'm talking about Listen Lady, Laddie, Lisa babysitting, and the military school.
And it's crazy to think those episodes are flaws that count against season 8. I'd kill to have episodes like that in current year. Springfield still felt like Springfield. The characters were in character. It didn't feel like they were straining to make an audience laugh, because they just *were* funny.
>>
So, to clear it up:
Seasons 4-8 = Core Golden Age
Seasons 1-10 = Extended Golden Age
Seasons 11-12 = Still watchable
Seasons 13 - ?? = Garbage
>>
>>215316856
Simpsons Safari was so stupid, it was a collection of gags with no plot like an old looney tunes cartoon and not a Simpsons episode
>>
>>215319767
that lisa babysitting episode is so dark for no real reason
>>
>>215319909
go to bread, anon
>>
>>215316856
To me the canon ending is Bart becoming judge of Supreme Court. It's the only good ending for Bart in my books, the rest is dogshit. He doesn't end up wasting his life, his parents are happy and proud, he has secure future, too.
