I just want a phone that is a normal size and a television that plays at 1080.

>true black
>it's actually bright grey with any amount of ambient light in the room
This is my one gripe with OLED. I'm enjoying mine now that it's getting dark outside but it was a pain in the ass in the summer, I have blinds on the windows but light gets through still. Room needs to be near pitch black to not reflect my face. Even then it can reflect the magnolia wall behind me, I've pinned up a black sheet to prevent that.

This. I'm going to buy a couple of backups while they're still available to last me the rest of my life. I don't want another smart TV ever. Fucking things suck. Always full of bloatware and trying to connect to the wifi and trying to launch its own fucking network so I have to put the input back on the cable box; why can't it just STAY on my cable box?? I've made it my backup TV and gone back to the smaller non-smart. Fuck smart shit.

Does literally anyone want this?
The only major tv advancement people want are see-through monitors so that you can hang pictures behind them or put them on windows. No one has a large room that they shove a tv in the centre of like this. It's the sort of thing that only appeals to businesses who want to appear to be futuristic and hightech.

You remember the Nindendo 3DS as well as 3-D phone papes that simulate 3-D without any special glasses? That's the shit that TV makers should be pushing for. Who's gonna make use of a TV that's a fucking transformer that folds up and puts itself away? That's a case of developing tech with no marketplace for it.

>>215317039
Eh. Streaming stuff like Youtube on TV is enjoyable, but that's about it.
>>
>>215319086
I just never install updates on my TV. Right now it asked (in text) if I wanted to update so that it could:
>permanently install Chrome
>recognize my voice
>some other features that I don't need from a TV

So I'm just not updating. Getting pestered in text every time I turn it on isn't so bad.
>>
>>215317631
This shit ruins films like Star Wars or Star Trek.
What the fuck is their problem? Black should be the easiest thing to make happen. Just...make it black, assholes!
>>
>>215316991
FIRST you make the technology, THEN you come up with how to use it
>>
>>215322424
>Streaming stuff like Youtube on TV is enjoyable, but that's about it.

When I first got "Sling" I was giddy over all the choices, then after trying to watch several shows it dawned on me that all I had done was pay for the sports packages (worth it and cheaper than youtube) and a GUI-everything else had tons of ads. Intrusive ads. Ads that would play the same ad ten times in a row. I'm not not exaggerating. It's bad.
Same with Prime, all I got is a GUI and access to a small handful of films, the rest is locked behind paywells. Yes, Amazon is the worst.

They can’t make a good hologram so they just make this retarded shit instead. AR glasses are at least pretty fucking cool now. You can have a IMAX screen on your face and just rot in bed all day.

They can, but they don't want to for anything good. There are perfect holograms of dead holohoax survivors, though.

I imagine at some point somebody is going to invent some sort of internal anti-glare technology, maybe something like the coating you get on IPS displays but internal and somehow activated on a zone/per-pixel basis. That way you'd still get your crystal clear glossy finish but without dark scenes becoming a mirror in even the dimmest of ambient light.

So I would take a pass on this relatively old GIF.

I'd be happy with a TV with a signal meter in it. It sucks every TV made presumes an internet connection via wifi but acts like an antenna signal over a coax line is martian encoded signal you have to fight it to translate.

I remember that around that time they were investing on scaling the 3d tech up so that tvs could do 3d without glasses.
I feel like they almost got there? But then 3d was a passing fad (again) and no one seemed to care.

If you have a tiny NYC apartment and have multi-use spaces this would be cool. Living room turns into the dining room etc. Or you could have a table you use as a desk that you can fold away and then pop this thing out. Most uses I can think of are all tiny space living / 100 square foot room situations. (Common in big cities)
