>he thinks people actually used cavalry in battleslmaoWhat are some other documentaries that expose this myth?
This guys really weird he keeps saying things that are well documented aren't real like Berserkers and stuff.
>>215341392You would need so many carrots to convince a horse to fight.
>>215341415That specific video in OP is just how hard it must have been to get cavalry working cause you need a whole lot of them as a unit and need to train the horses insanely wellIt's just "how crazy was the first man who ever thought to drink cow milk lmao???" but for cavalry
One common misconception that always pisses me off is the idea that medieval infantry fought with swords. They actually used shovels
>>215341557Idiot a shovel can't even cut through armor like a sword can
>>215341578A dumb western sword can't do that anyway, you need Nippon tech for that
>>215341392>no one rode horses into battle>no one used torches inside>no one used swords or axes in battles>a dozen guys could guard an entire castle>berserkers didn't exist>England won the 100 years' war>operation market garden was a roaring success>Napoleon was worse than Hitler>the bren gun was better than the mg-42
S P A N D A U
>>215341642also>no one used fire arrows>mail coifs weren't used because they don't protect you from a full sword blow to the head
>>215341540I don't know man, it is pretty arrogant to believe that someone with modern sensibilities can evaluate the development of cavalry by people with completely different living conditions, needs and values. You have to go in deep to try and image what it was like being a steppe nigga 4 thousand years ago before you can make such assessments.Lindy seems to keep it very surface level, I guess he has become the prototypical midwit.

I'm starting to think that it's bullshit (in a sense that he never said that)

>>215343576Yeah after you train the horse. How fucking thick are you?You think people just leapt onto the back of a wild horse and then they were good to go?
>>215343659>Yeah after you train the horse>>215343373>You have to train horses to get them to charge a formation of infantry.
>>215343675Both of those posts are saying the same thing.
>>215343576By the time they'd go fight these guys would have been riding horses for decades, you think they'd learn to fucking steer it>>215343588Maybe there should be some sort of light infantry peppering them with arrows and javelins
>>215343659Yeah so you train the horse. I don't know what your point is, people have been training horses for specific purposes for the duration of recorded history. I don't understand where you think the difficulty is. Can you articulate your point a little better?>train the horse to do as it's told, which mankind has been doing forever>put a man on it who knows he needs to ride with this guy on his left, this guy on his right>do this multiple times with multiple horses and multiple men>cavalry
>>215343689So why were you shitting yourself trying to prove the post wrong that said the same thing you just concluded, that you have to train the horse?
For all of human history the horse has acted as a kind of uncontrolled public transport, you get on it and you hope it goes to where you're going. If not, get off and find a horse going to opposite direction.
>>215343717The amount of labor and money to acquire/breed, train and equip an elite fighting cavalry force was enormous. All the systems that you need to bring that together didn't spring up over night either
>>215341540Dude seems like an idiot. I train horses and it's perfectly viable to desensitize them to the point they will ride into clear and present danger without issue. In fact, their connection with their rider is so strong, I'm sure they'd WANT to bring their rider into battle if that's what he wished. People that don't work with horses seriously need to shut the fuck up about horses. Dumbass American retards
>>215343702You don't just steer horses like a bike, you dumb faggot. They are large, stupid, skittish animals that are likely to not let you ride them if you happen to be wearing the wrong shirt because they think you're a different person. If you want a horse to charge into a crowd of people, you have to slowly and gradually train it to be comfortable doing that without rearing up and throwing you off its back, preferably training multiple horses in case one dies, goes lame, bolts or refuses to charge after getting stabbed with a bunch of pointy objects the first time you take it into real combat. Heavy cavalry is expensive and a lot of specialized work. Cavalry for a long time Europe and Asia was just used to carry horse archers and in light harassing actions such as chasing down retreating enemies.
>>215343787No you don't understand, even though I never saw a live horse or threw a punch I can tell you exactly why a warrior would never use a horse and why 6000 years of recorded history makes no sense
>>215343723I think you've gotten confused somewhere in the chain of replies.
>>215341540OH MY GOD IT’S SO MUCH WORK TO MAKE THIS EFFECTIVE! UGH! UGH! I HAVE TO LIKE, PUT IN HOURS TO DO THIS.Holy shit that guy’s an idiot. He probably wouldn’t flinch at the idea that helicopters are valuable but “airborne cavalry” shares the same “extreme expenditure for what?” Question. People who had cavalry dominated the ancient world, it’s how the Aryans conquered Indo-Europe and it’s how the Huns brought Rome to her knees. Effective cavalry is utterly critical to the success of an army and being a whiny little bitch about “how much work” it was infuriates me. You know what’s a lot of work? Tending a field. I’ve done that too and it sucks. This little queer would probably whine about that too and say like, “ugh why don’t we just pick berries.”
>>215343771>The amount of labor and money to acquire/breed, trainThey were doing this ANYWAYfor EVERYTHINGsince the DAWN of MAN>and equip Well what else are you going to do with your resources? By the time cavalry started becoming a thing the ideas behind smithing armour were pretty well-developed. Pre-imperial Eurasia was a free-for-all, wars were what society was for, having your blacksmiths beat out horse armour is a wise and practical application of manpower.I can literally feel you crawling through the cavalry wikipedia page trying to find reasons to support your dumb, unfounded position for no other reason than you can't stand to be wrong on an anymous imageboard.
>>215343800Heavy cavalry originated over two and a half years ago. And yeah light cavalry and horse archers were used long before that. It always made sense to use horses to fight wars, he ce the idea of cavalry. As for riding and training the horse that's what people would do for years before going into battle

Cavalry is so retarded, only thing more retarded is the idea of shooting from horseback. Something like mounted archers. Imagine how fucking stupid that would be, you'd have to train horses AND archers!
