Did Bruce Springsteen really do anything to warrant a biopic?
>>215353586Not really, but a movie about how Born in the USA was written as a critical song about the realities of American life, only to be taken as a patriotic theme song by Reaganites would make for a good satire.
boomers like him
Not really as huge Bruce fan he has lived a boring life for being a rockstar.
>>215353586he pissed on an american flag
>>215353586He got tit implants
>>215353586This movie isn't even really about Springsteen. It is specifically about the making of the Nebraska album.
>>215353586springsteen has gotta be the most overrated boomer rocker there is. maybe neil young could compete
He gave us our first taste of courtney cox in the "Dancing in the Dark" music video
This guy should have played Bob Dylan instead of Chalamet.
>>215353586Not really. They're just doing boomer biopics now
He listened to all of Bruce Springsteen's songs at least once, that level of masochism deserves something
>>215353586he lost his brother at Khe Sanh, show some respect
listening to boomers gush about rock stars is the cringeist shit ever. maybe I just don't get celeb worship in general.
>Hey, little girl, is your daddy home?>Did he go away and leave you all alone?>I got a bad desire>Oh, oh, oh, I'm on fire
>>215353586No. It's just another Boomer movie designed to take money from them before they die.>>215354078>listening to boomers gush about rock stars is the cringeist shit everI think it's more that they obsess over generic gay shit like The Beatles or Springsteen rather than the actually interesting artists from their day. A movie about the Barrett-era Pink Floyd, Mothers of Invention-era Frank Zappa, Black Sabbath, or The Who would all be great subjects for a movie, but instead they go for these generic milquetoast fags like Springsteen. I at least liked the Dylan movie as a film given Dylan is a more interesting personality/artist due to his shitposting/troll sensibilities and the excellent performances of the cast (Chalamet, Fanning, and Norton knocked it out of the park), but Springsteen has such a generic, cliche background and creative process that I'd rather watch paint dry than a movie about him.
>>215353586He got a job working construction for the Johnston company
>he recorded Born in the U.S.A. (1984) with the E Street Band, which became his most commercially successful album and the 23rd-best selling album ever as of 2024. All seven singles from Born in the U.S.A. reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, including the title track. Definitively yes. He is the soundtrack of a very specific era of America.
>>215353718>he has lived a boring life for being a rockstar. That's the thing it's not like The Doors or Control where the musician is an interesting/tragic figure who was at the center of a major shift in culture. Springsteen was just a singer-songwriter who got famous in the 80s..that's it
>>215354078Morrissey is the only one who deserves it desu
>>215356064Too whiny. Mark E Smith had more interesting stories and better bantz
>>215356064Morrissey needs a mirror-image palette-swap antagonist named Warrissey.
>>215356165A leftist on the carnivore diet?
>>215356165Warrissey is a heterosexual carnivore who generally gets along with people and is heavily respected by his fanbase.
>>215355697How is Chalamet praised for what Blanchett did better? TC is about the image of mythlogizing, including of himself. Blanchett at least made the guy an ordinary person who was performing an image of a famous celeb. She invited people to be critical of a self-satisfied persona.
>>215353586No, he's barely even recognized as a musician. People say they love him, but they really mean Bob Dylan
It’s a Jersey thing
i expect at least a few funny memes out of this movie
>>215353586>Did Bruce Springsteen really do anything to warrant a biopic? He sucked the cock of the political establishment for 50 years.
>>215353586Idk but I hate that rodent-face actor so much it's unreal
>>215353617it wouldn't. Nebraska would be a good movie but it was already done with Badlands in 73
>>215356246>How is Chalamet praised for what Blanchett did better?Because Chalamet completely captured the essence of Dylan as a man and how he perceives the world, the creative process, and music. He nailed everything down to the mannerisms and attitudes toward women and politics that a lesser actor would've very easily fumbled. Not to mention his dedication to appearances, even down to the fingernails for the guitar.>made the guy an ordinary person who was performing an image of a famous celebThat's because, as you stated, the purpose of TC and the movie were about mythologizing, depicting what it was about Dylan that seperated him from normal people and other musicians rather than what made him relatable. I'd say they're both excellent but very different portrayals and interpretations of the same figure.
I never listened to him much, but Born to Run is pretty badass
>>215356870Thunder Road and Jungleland are excellent songs that are easy to get into if you want to start listening further.
>>215353586all boomer musicians are held in "legendary" status even if they didn't contribute to anything. The people in power controls the narrative. Obviously there were boomer musicians who had a huge impact on the culture like The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan, but the musicians of the 60s weren't the same ones in the 80s, the 60s were a giant shift in culture and politics, many musicians of that era had significance. Majority of the commercial music from the 80s was made purely for profit, no messages, no significance, nothing, but still held in high regard because of nostalgia.
>>215356870>>215357109For me, it's Hungry Hearthttps://youtu.be/boJhWtw-6Gg?
>>215353586He offered years of loyal service to The Party
>>215353982Holy shit. You must have terrible taste in music. Who's your favorite artist?
Biopics are pretty much universally dogshit by definition that only serve as a way for the lead actor to show off and to cement a propaganda narrative about the subject in the wider public consciousness.Amadeus is the only good biopic as it intentionally and explicitly does not follow real history and uses the historical subjects as broad archetypes to tell a larger story.
>>215358129>accusing others of bad taste while defending bruce springsteen
>>215353586Notice they don't make music biopics about anyone who's not on the left. It's Elton, Freddie, Jimi, Marley, Bruce... Splatstreet flies around in private jets with Obama, lives on a vast property he calls a farm for the tax breaks, and so on. Real working class hero.
Springsteen is the worst critically acclaimed mainstream artist I can think of. Hate all of his music except maybe Dancing in the Dark.
>>215353586He put Saxophone on a rock album, which made a lot of boomers shit their pants.
I have never met a Bruce Springsteen fan who was born after 1980.
>>215353586he's probably the most american rock star to ever exist. there were political artists before him obviously, but a lot of his songs spoke to the fears of working class americans. boomers gush over him because a lot of his lyrics were the first time they felt represented with a stadium artist. he was also just a fantastic songwriter and born to run, the river, and e street shuffle are fantastic albums. i can't imagine that a bunch of permed, emasculated gen z kids would get his music, but denying his influence or legacy is ridiculous.
>>215361611>he's probably the most american rock star to ever existLMAO, he's irrelevant outside of new jersey.
>>215361667"Bruce Springsteen has sold over 140 million records worldwide and 71 million in the United States, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time. His best-selling album is Born in the U.S.A., which has sold over 30 million copies globally, and his 2023-2025 tour grossed over $700 million"that's cap bruh
>>215353586He acted so jewish his whole life that I still refuse to believe that he isn't part of the tribe.
