>>215357596Yeah i remember this post from the frasier thread earlier.
>>215357596My dad would do stuff like that. He'd say we needed a little culture. We'd go to the event. Before and during the intermission we'd be chilling in the lobby. He'd go grab us a couple drinks. I was underage, but they never checked the plus ones waiting elsewhere. We'd get buzzed. Chicks in evening gowns would come over and chat with us. There was a hotel literally next to the venue. Lost my virginity to one of those random nightgown chicks. Think it was Bach instead of Mozart that night though. Niles knew what was up
>>215358071kek well done anon
>>215357596>Fraser picks up a book>Audiences start giggling>He opens the book and starts reading>Audiences grows louder and the crowd struggles to contain their laughter>Niles walks into the room carrying a bottle of Domaine Naturaliste Morus Cabernet Sauvignon>Audience is out of control, uproarious laughter almost drowning out the actors >"Oh hi Niles. I'm just reading">Laughter hits its peak, followed by sudden quietness as the audience anticipates the punchline >"It's a collection of poems by John Keats">Audience laughs so hard they have to excuse themselves from the production as they understand how socially unacceptable it is to be disruptive in the theatre
>>215358279lol. Only someone who genuinely enjoys the show could come up with this lampoon.
>>215358216Your Dad bought you a high class hooker.
>>215358071>Weenies anyone? That's so good I really think it was a punchline on the show.
>>215358367Nah, I literally got her number and saw her again
>>215357596kek it do be like that
/fa/ as fuck
>>215357596
>>215358071Martin doesn't use a walker, he uses a four legged cane.
I enjoyed Frasier but I don't get why people act as if this show is so high brow. Apart from one or two specific jokes about very high class shit like opera, there wasn't any jokes that couldn't be deduced from the context even if you don't know what work of literature or psychological condition or whatever they're referencing. Jokes in Frasier aren't that smarter than jokes in other sitcoms that are popular to hate, say, something like Big Bang Theory.
>>215357596Niles is naturally funny with his bro
>>215359759no one thinks it's actually high browit mentions art and culture and wine things in passingit just has good writing and is better than trash sitcoms
>>215359759even Aristophanes wasn't necessarily 'high brow' at the time.
>>215359759BBT was more definitely about with social trends among geeks and performative males, but it's different when the jokes lampoon the arena where the liberal Arts and Culture has an effect on real people's everyday aspirational lives, instead of basing humour on the personality quirks of more detached and corpselike characters like Sheldon. Frasier is one of those shows where I can't even picture what the average female fan is like really, unless she's maybe a retired teacher or something,
>>215360305Curren female fans of both Frasier and BBT are 40-60 year old moms who still watch TV
>>215359759>>215360305Frasier is the big bang theory of the 90s
>>215358216Unfathomably based.
>>215359759It's a satire, that's what people don't understand about it. It would be like saying American Psycho is highbrow because of the speeches about music.
>>215358433There was an epsiode where Martin had to bail Frasier out of jail for soliciting a transvestite prostitute.
>>215361169What the fuckWhat episode
>>215361376He's making it up, that's not a real episode.
>>215361425i'm sure it is, i also remember itafter a little digging, i found thishttps://www.imdb.com/title/tt0582416/>Frasier has become fed-up with the way the modern world treats good Samaritans. Driving home one night, anticipating his son Freddie's visit, he stops to help a woman stuck in the rain--and discovers that she's a prostitute.no mention of her being a transvestite but i do remember that being the case, and also "crystal" is played by "david h ferguson" (pic related afaik)
>>215361516just to be clear, frasier doesn't solicit her services, only offers to give her a ridenaturally this is misunderstood by law enforcement and becomes a scandal

>>215360305Teachers have the hardest job out there too
Frasier certainly isn't highbrow by any means, but I do think there is an increased yearning for high art in this brainrot world. Frasier simply having it as window dressing makes it feel more interesting.
>>215361994Teachers are retards
>>215362048It's not window dressing. Part of the show's appeal is that Frasier's life is so different, yet the situations he's in are relatable
>>215357596>loved Frasier>while stuck on an airplane, see that the Frasier reboot is an option>I know that there's no Daphne, no Niles, no Marty, basically no relevance to the original show, but I still try it>it was the worst shit I'd seen in recent memoryWhat a waste that was. Fuck me they had a Baby Shark episode.
>>215362048it's actually low-brow made to appear high-brow by mid-brow writers and it's pure kinoI started watching it recently and it reminds me of Always Sunny a surprising amount
>>215362143it's was pretty lukewarm, yeah. not heinously bad but nothing going for it besides old tired Kelsey Grammar.
>>215362091Literally how? Just place the clock down and then climb downWhy'd she just step out into the void? It's like Wile E. Coyote stepping off a cliff.
>>215359759In addition to understanding the references not being needed to understand the joke, nearly all of their highbrow references are to the most famous "entry-level" stuff where general audiences recognize the name well enough to know that it's a famous play, composer, ballet, etc.The best example I'm thinking of is when Niles describes himself as a Jungian and Frasier as a Freudian. No actual psychiatrist living in the 1990s would ever describe themselves that way but most people generally know Jung and especially Freud are famous psychiatrists.
>>215362194Asians spend most of their formative years on academic pursuits and as such have basically 0 athletic ability or balance. My wife at least is not as retarded as that girl but you should see her try to throw a bowling ball or swing a golf club.
>>215357596I never understood why they never showed his wife.
>>215362109so it's window dressing
>>215357596I didn't bother watching the new season did they brought Niles back?
>>215362313iirc they were thinking about doing it at one point a few seasons in but decided not to because it would have been impossible to find an actress who came close to matching the description they'd given in all the previous jokes throughout the show
>>215361626Baby making sex with Roz
>>215362313Because she was described as impossibly inhumanly thin>mistaken for a coat rack>sprained her wrist putting too much dip on a cracker>once hid behind a breadstick>escaped prison by walking between the bars
>>215362313It was funnier to have people imagine wildly weird looks for her. I always imagined her as being like an extremely short and horribly anorexic version of Lilith.
>>215362438They also said Niles dog was a pitting image for her if it wore a little hat.
>>215362194How about you don't climb shelves like that in the first place? You wouldn't let children do it, why would you do it? How about we go find the janitors closet where there is bound to be a LADDER and use that
>>215362463>don't climb furnitureWell duh, that's obviously better advice. But if you're going to, I'm just saying maybe don't just blindly step out into thin air like some Looney Tunes character. She could have just on her butt and had her legs reach the floor.
>>215362313Unseen characters are common in sitcoms, it lets the writers add outlandish descriptions and lets the audience fill in the gaps. It's a bit odd to have such a major character be off screen though. The show is cruel to Maris as well, I think actually showing her would sour many jokes besides just ruining the obvious ones.
>>215362520No, get a fucking ladder. Don't put yourself in stupid situations like that in the first place. She fucked up from the start, the end result was a foregone conclusion
>>215362091Why was she recording this in the first place?
>>215358071
>>215362534>person does a thing one way>"They should have done it this way">UMM AKSCHUALLY, THE BEST WAY WOULD HAVE BEEN TO NOT DO IT AND FOLLOW THE OSHA GUIDLINES>okay but I'm talking about IF they did it>YEAH BUT THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE ITFuck me you're obnoxious.
>>215358507Call girls have numbers... You use them to call them
YOU STOLE MY MOMMY
>>215362610No, you're dumb questioning why she stepped off. She shouldn't have been up there like that in the first place. That idiot is the one teaching children and that's how she approaches life
>>215358071KEK
>>215362711>She shouldn't have been up there like that in the first place.Oh my fuck anon, yes we know. Are you purposefully being this obtuse?
>>215359255the montana > elliot bay towers
>>215362610>>okay but I'm talking about IF they did it>>YEAH BUT THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE ITReminds me of the conditional hypotheticals thing. "How would you feel if you did not have breakfast this morning?", "But I did eat breakfast."
>>215361169>>215361516actually, the whole thing is a dream sequence
>>215362438Maris is such a sad character.>Incredibly mentally ill and sickly from her own controlling parents>Becomes incapable of love and happiness>Can barely leave the house>Has a husband who emotionally cheats on her for years>Is the butt of every joke behind her back
>>215362981Guess you forgot her trying to cheat on Niles all the time and also banging the marriage counselor huh?
>>215362981>surly unpleasant jewess>breaks Frasier's heartdeserved.
>>215363008It's been a while, I know she cheated on him with the marriage counselor but I thought that was out of character and basically just a plot device to finally snap him out of it and end the relationship. Was she really trying to cheat on him before that?Regardless, still a sad character. You can't forgive people like that for everything they do, but you can empathize why they're like that. Also, I would rather find out my significant other has cheated on me one time than to find out they've been talking about me behind my back and obsessing over someone else for years. The relationship is over either way but the former hurts less.
>>215363087Yeah, she tried a few different times and he always went back to her like a cuck and there were references to her being flirty with others before the show takes place. The counselor one was the final straw. She's a sad character for sure, but she also never tried to get any help, she was acutely aware of herself and was constantly selfish to an extreme degree.
>>215363087Bro if you were married to some girl that you knew was severely mentally ill and sick and you both worked through it and later you found out she was cheated on you would you be as favorable as you are now?
>>215363161No, but I'm not Niles. Also they talked about her behind her back long before that. I guess I just really don't like teasing people behind their back, makes me think of what people say about me.
>>215363199You know people talk shit behind your back?
>>215363199Maris talked shit to peoples faces and behind their backs, constantly.
>>215363220No, that's the problem
>>215363253Clearly I'm forgetting a lot and only remembering the tragic parts of the character.
>>215363361You think people talk behind your back but you aren't sure?
>>215363371You really are, she was mentally unwell but she was also a pretty awful person too.
Why do negroes love it so much?
>>215363557I have literally never heard of a black person liking Frasier or Cheers.
>>215362091Same
>>215359759Yeah it's 'highbrow' for midwits. Personally I find a lot of the humor really cheesy.
