Honestly I was hyped to watch the Toxic Avenger remake but damn that was mediocre movie, they got decent budget and the best they can do is hiring Peter Dinklage and add more gore? I hate how Terrifier is turning the trash name in just gore effects and some bad jokes.

All the stories about not finding distribution because the movie was too violent is bullshitt

It's a frustrating film because it did make me laugh a few times, and there was some classic Troma stuff in there (like the Killer Nutz). But it's the kind of film a nervous guy makes when he's limited on self expression because the budget is big and you can't be too weird or offensive etc.
Terrifier catching strays there though, there's not really any jokes in that.

>Honestly I was hyped to watch the Toxic Avenger remake
Same. I thought some of the jokes were funny but overall the movie was average and most of the gore, aside from being lazy CGI, was very uncreative. A lot of it was lazy, obviously it was going for this flippant tone but in trying to not take itself seriously it just ended up feeling half-assed.

I find that candles really improve the kino experience. Either tea lights or long candles in a nice gothic candlestick, as long as it doesn't light the room up too much, really enhances the atmosphere of most horror movies.
Candlelight is also the only light by which I read horror.

Rerturn of the Living Dead III... was actually pretty good!
Strange that they changed tune again and went basically no comedy. Despite the campy 90s cinematography/acting it has some actually disturbing zombie action.
The moral of the story: you should listen to your Dad when you're infatuated with a self-harming BPD goth gf.
I need some hopium that the new film will be good now.

It's what happens when overstimulated, internet-brained people make movies. They feel the need to jam-pack their films with histrionics and shake-you-to-the-core-of-your-soul scenes in order to capture people's attention and get them to feel something.

If my memory serves, in the Friday the 13th 09 remake the black character literally separates himself from the group to smoke bongs and then runs into Jason and narrowly escapes, just to turn around and try to fight Jason and get rekt.

I rewatched all of them a couple years ago after the industry had gone woke so he stood out to me quite a lot

Toxic Avenger 2/3 were originally planned to be one film. They had so much material they made 2 instead.
While I like both of them and Toxie 2000, they are a slight step down. Still some of the best of Troma though.

Anyway, soon they're going to release the cut of what the original vision of the film was. So to be honest if I were you I'd just wait for that, since it's a restored version and everything.

Just finished. Godawful but I laughed a lot. Earliest movie I think I've personally seen that tried to capitalize on Blair Witch, but it's not found footage. Has a five minute segment in the middle where the characters interview locals about the Witchouse curse that's the best part of the movie. Ariauna Albright is apparently a scream queen that I never heard of. Andrew Prine (Barn of the Naked Dead) was excellent and I was shocked to see him. Excited there's one of these left because that was one of the most entertaining pieces of crap I've watched this month

I don't think there's much to get tbqh. It's just a quirky film about a closet homosexual who can't get over his obsession with a black dude he knew in high school. The black synthmeister at the synthesizer convention reminded the gaybo of his high school crush, so the gaybo found an excuse to hang out with him all the time - and when the synthmeister found a job in Japan, the gaybo lost it and decided to kidnap him.
